Lithophila 291 December 19, 2015 Share December 19, 2015 (edited) I am not 100% serious when i say it . But for the sake of an argument, let me explain. So his first game was like Metal Gear MSX... that one wasn't particularly i believe but it was fun. Although i heard the game took place in Africa someplace. But i am not sure. Btw just for the sake of it the game was released in 1987, but took place in 1995 The second game Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake was released in 1990 on MSX. But the game takes place in 1997 or 1999, i am not 100% sure. But in the intro it states the cold war is over and the world is ready for peace, however not all wants peace. Clashing of unsettlements in the middle east or something. So basically he predicts the tentions and views on how this escalation of stuff will come from the region here. And now Metal Gear Solid 1. It was first in 3D, it was released in 1998 but takes place in 2005. Although this seems to talk more about nuclear... Ok i'll ignore this since hopefully nobody will do it. Metal Gear Solid 2. This game was released This one is somewhat more relevant . Basically at the last codec with Raiden, Tank mission with Snake is in 2007, while Raiden which here is 2009. Basically in the last codec it describes the stupidity of the internet generation. Like that ideas, culture and stuff will fade away to the idea of truth, because social norms are affected likely by internet behavior and not worldly construct. Remember, this was released in 2001, when internet was NOT relevant . So this is pretty impressive : 3 Metal Gear Rising: This takes place in 2018 but was released in 2013. I remember a cutscene too, but so far all i saw was this codec conversation. It talks about the rise of anti immigration... sound familiar to our time? And there is a nut president candidate who is the last boss in the game... Here is the codec for the anti immigration Raiden: So let me get this straight: All law enforcement in Denver's been subcontracted out to World Marshal? Kevin Washington: Pretty much. It's part of Colorado's small-government initiative. When you're tasked with slashing a state's budget, privatizing the police force starts to make sense. Detroit was kind of the pioneer there. Armstrong spearheaded the idea, of course. Back when he was still in the state senate. Raiden: No surprise. But the police force isn't all cyborg, is it? Kevin: Nah. No way anyone could get funding for that. Most of 'em are unmodified... New recruits or old veterans from the old Denver PD. They handle most of the basic police work, like street patrols and investigations. Most cyborgs are part of the SWAT unit. They're sent out to handle riots, violent crimes, stuff like that. Raiden: Makes sense. Kevin: They're given separate roles in the force, too. Some specialize entirely in combat; others handle things like hostage negotiations. Some of the combat specialists are ex-US Army, but a lot of 'em are from overseas, too. A lot of them undergo the cyborg operation just to get a green card. Raiden: That kind of thing must go over great with the anti-immigration movement. Kevin: You know it. A lot of folks wanted a blanket ban on hiring immigrants for the police force. They get a bad rep for those helmets, too -- can't see their faces. They're required to keep their faceguards up if they're not actively on a mission, though. Thing is, we're starting to see a wave of violent cyborg crime across America, you know? The way the police see it, they need more cyborgs on the force to deal with that. Raiden: Hope they have enough cyborgs to deal with me. http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Metal_Gear_Rising:_Revengeance_radio_conversations And here is the boss : 3 So he is not kidding around either. Coincidence? I think not Edited December 19, 2015 by Lithophila
SFyr 1,982 December 19, 2015 Share December 19, 2015 Ehhh. From what I gather, there have been tensions in the middle east for a long time, and the police force is not gonna be mechanized in three years; both our technology and government progression speed isn't gonna change that fast despite what fiction writers seem to think (see Back to the Future and a bunch of old movies like it; it's a writing strategy to set it close enough to feel relevant to our life and keep some characters alive, but distant enough to make it 'futuristic' and possible to throw in technological advances that currently do not exist). Plus immigration has been an issue throughout US history if memory serves; not just the past year or two. Also, the internet was relevant in 2001. Chat rooms became popular in the 1990's, it was on the rise for sure and becoming more and more socially relevant, and even one of my favorite MMOs as a kid was created in 1997 (and went world-wide in the early 2000's). Heck, people thought that the change to 2000 would basically topple society because of how much it was geared around computers already. Also, I think pretty much every form of "easier communication" or major technological advance is met with some concern or fear, and tied to the possibility of a dumber/weaker generation. I have no doubt that in 2001, people fearfully predicted the next generation being dumber simply because it relied more on their computers than the old ways.Nice little comic (XKCD) about isolation, but I think it's related still by simply devaluing the 'new' approaches of society. Personally I think Hideo Kojima just likes over the top stuff, and plays off of what is dramatic or gets a response. Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,611 December 19, 2015 Share December 19, 2015 Considering that every Metal Gear Solid game is pretty much ahead of its time, I could see Kojima having some sort of extreme hindsight and he uses this to his advantage to make his games even more epic. Shanks 10,816 December 19, 2015 Share December 19, 2015 He is not a prophet, but he clearly does know what is going on in the world and when I mean knows what is going on I meant what is actually going on not the bullshit that the mainstream media is feeding us. It is not so much that Kojima is so far ahead it is that the public is so woefully far behind and has been kept in the dark about so many things, most of what we actually do know took either took forever to classify or was the result or whistleblowers and most people are completely clueless even about that stuff. There are people that are so mind numbingly stupid that a poll was released recently stating that %30 of Republican voters support bombing Agrabah which is the FICTIONAL country in the Disney version of Aladdin and the democrats are not exactly geniuses either. 2 Rarity Get's Cockroaches

I've never understood the love for bombing people : I. That's like saying murder is ok. But either way i am glad there are some room for diplomacy too. Like the Iran, Russia and USA deal. I just tend to be more into diplomatic reasons. A moment i thought you said Baghdad . But somewhat glad Agrabah in Aladdin isn't so horrible in comparison to what you hear on the news :grin2: Edited December 19, 2015 by Lithophila
