JeyWiz 1,097 December 30, 2015 Share December 30, 2015 Hi guys! I'm just wondering what would be the best program for making electronic music? Would it be FL Studio or Ableton? I already have Logic Pro, but i'm still not getting the sounds that I want for my music. So, which one should I save up for?
SkullcandyPegasus 604 December 30, 2015 Share December 30, 2015 (edited) I have a lot (ALOT ) of friends who produce music, and 3 years of experience in music production. In the past, we haven't been too fast to recommend fl studio (as seems highly common), and I've rather liked reason due to the oh so high quality soft synths, but since fl studio 12, we'd recommend fl studio wholeheartedly, and if you can afford the signature bundle, it'll be especially worth it. However, finding a pair of production headphones is equally important in my opinion. If you had to choose between more features in fl studio and a pair of production headphones, I'd recommend the headphones :3 fl studio 12 producer edition > headphones (ath m50x recommended) > signature bundle ^~^ P.S. Since you're using logic, your computer is probably an apple. Fl studio doesn't run so well on my non-windows machines, so maybe try reason if you're not going to use windows. Besides this, you might want to look into getting new plugins or perhaps new samples instead of a new daw. It might be that you just need new sounds and not a new interface. Ribbonfree 2,383 January 7, 2016 Share January 7, 2016 Probably too late to this ship but I gotta say. Don't just change DAWs if you're a beginner. Any DAW more or less achieves the same results if you know what you're doing, and Logic actually has excellent in-house plugins and decent workflow. What you really need to do is hunker out and learn your tools inside and out. Whatever you've got or can freely get, synths, mixing plugins, use YouTube videos, troll producer forums, learn some music theory. Dedicate yourself to progress on one thing. Switching DAWs just adds new thing you have to learn for what might not be much payoff. You can achieve a good sound no matter what you're using, you just have to be willing to learn how. And Skullcandy is right, if you do want to upgrade something make it your monitors. Better headphones, speakers, that's the best investment for a first time musician, not a new DAW. BlueBrony 388 January 8, 2016 Share January 8, 2016 There is a youtube channel imamusicmogul where this guy goes through all the steps to make some of those really popular electronic sounds and effects, and he does it all on Logic Pro! I would check it out before you start looking at other DAWs. Check out my youtube music channel My OC- Prof. Noble H. Quikwitt
