Atropa strode into the ballroom in her finest clothes, and all eyes were on her.

She smiled and batted her eyelashes at anyone she could.

A group of women surrounded her, asking for the latest gossip.

"Oh girls, you know I don't gossip!"

Atropa was clearly lying. She loved getting all the attention for her gossip. No one could keep any secrets from her.

"Well, I'm not sure, mind you, but I did hear that Mr. Cake slept on the couch last night."

Atropa giggled as the women around her laughed and whispered.

She was in control, and that was the way she liked it.

Cherished laughed, she was flattered, "what harm is a drink? Of course. I like them sweet though." Cherished wasn't interested in mares, but she wasn't afraid to experiment. Share the love, not to mention it would probably excite the surrounding stallions. Cherished smiled and winked at Schwartz.

 

Eris frowned towards the stage, "what is this shit?" He asked aloud to nopony. Eris pulled out his cell phone sent a quick text and the music suddenly stopped. Two large stallions and a professional looking mare removed 'Resistance' from the stage and kicked him out of the ball. "This is a high class event, the music you are playing is not appropriate for the scene, do you understand young man?" One of the stallions tore off his mask, "ugh you again." The mare turned to one of the stallions, "fire whomever got this idiot a job here."

 

Lovely tried focusing on the colt in front of her. "Who me!?" She exclaimed, "uh no, no, no, no! Today has been wonderful! Yep! Going to school, meeting new ponies! Everything is just bucking great!" Lovely was still fairly drunk, so was a little hard to understand. Lovely starred at Six, "you're eyes look funneh!"

Six breathed a small sigh of relief as the music stopped. He raised an eyebrow at Lovely's behavior. "Hell I can tell somethins botherin ya, even if yer drunk off yer rocker" at mention of his eyes he broke eye contact, looking down at his drink as he waited for a response.

Eris watched Six carefully as he spoke with his sister. Eris took a quick sip from his drink and slammed the glass down on the bar table. Evidentially I need to watch this one too.

 

Lovely was shocked by Six's response. He definitely wasn't from around here. Lovely felt a rush of emotions run through her body. "W-why do you care anyway!?" Lovely screamed in a teary rage. Lovely quickly jumped up from where she was sitting and dashed to the washroom accidentally bumping into Atropa on the way. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" Lovely exclaimed as Atropa fell to the floor.

 

Cherished laughed as she witnessed Six's rejection. "Loser alert."

Six gave an irritated sigh and faced Cherished, "What problem have ya got against me? Ah first thought you were a nice mare when ya first spoke ta me, ta think ah was gonna ask fer a dance with ya. But Ahd like ta hear from ya why ya hate me so suddenly. Please oh please explain that" he said.

Cherished looked around, "oooooh! You're trying to talk! How cute. Listen just because your parents are related doesn't mean you can have any mare you want. Why don't you go trying to breed with one of those chickens your family raises. It might be at more of your speaking level." Cherished laughed and smiled slyly.

 

Eris had to try hard to keep himself from laughing, but the bitch was funny.

"Mah parents are dead" hissed Six through gritted teeth, "You ain't gonna insult them in their own graves, just cause yer daddy got bits don't make ya obliged ta say whatever the buck ya want. Besides, at least Ahm not the red head hittin on every colt she sees thinkin ta score, ahve been by mahself Mah whole life, ah can wait fer a mare with actuall manners" he said. He then got up and turned to leave, a pony approached him with a good size bag of bits. "Here's your 600 mister String, great performance tonight" she said. Six smiled and thanked the pony, at least this one had some manners.

Cherished laughed loudly. "Y-you think 600 bits is a lot of money!?" Cherished got out he purse and began throwing 50 coin bits at Six, "dance monkey dance!" She cheered.

 

Eris immediately got up and picked up the bits scattered around Six with his unicorn magic. He tossed the bits back to Cherished, "don't you have some marriage to ruin?" Cherished huffed in response. Eris took Six aside. "So, I'm guessing you're homeless right now? And 600 bits aren't going to last you long here. You have talent, there is no denying that, but it needs refinement. I would suggest enrolling in the academy, except for the fact you clearly can't afford it. Unless, some rich heir requested it of course...."

Six was fuming at Cherished, he officially hated her now. He turned to Eris when he spoke about enrolling, "Whattya want in return" he asked, already seeing where Eris was headed with this.

Eris laughed heartily, "talented AND smart. I need a babysitter of sorts. You remember my sister. Poor little flower doesn't understand the workings of high society at all. We are the most prestigious family in Canterolt, next to the Royal family of course. I don't need to tell you that anypony would die from the power and status we have, and my stupid little sister is an easy ticket in. She is so foolish, she would easily fall for any charmer trying to get into the family. I need you to prevent this."

Six thought this over, "Ah see why yad wanna prevent that, one bad apple can ruin the whole bushel." he sighed, looking back to where Lovely had gone, "And how would ya have me prevent some moocher from courtin her?" be asked, though he already had an idea as to how.

Valiant has been having a pretty boring night.

It seemed that all the other mares and stallions were having fun at his party.

"Why is it thats it's always so boring for me...." he thought to himself.

Then in a little fit of anger he just threw his drink on the ground and walked to the garden outside to think.

"Figuring that out in your job my friend." Eris laughed again before some angry pony threw his glass in rage. The drink had splashed against Lovely and Atropa.

 

Lovely wet and angry stormed after Valiant. "What is your problem!?" She called after him.

As he went to lean on a the railing outside to look at the garden.

Then Valiant noticed a mare that was drenched and looked like she wanted to kill something.

An behind that mare was the musician he talked to earlier.

*Another one of the student gaurds walked up to Schwartz and whispered something into her ear. Schwartz sighed.*

"Always on duty, even when Im not."

*She walked over to Cherished.*

"Miss Cherished, it appears that several of the other party attendants have complained about your behavior. Ive been asked to escort you out of the party and back to your home. Please do not struggle, for that will only make the situation worse."

*Schwartz said in an authorative voice.*

"I asked you a question!" Lovely shouted in a drunken rage. Lovely's eyes were red and she was pissed, and soaking in cider. "Do you know how long it look me to get this look right!?" Lovely shoved Valiant.

 

Cherished huffed, "ha! And what laws have I broken? None. Do you know who my father is!? Get out of my face, or I'll call him." Cherished held out her phone.

 

Eris noticed the Schwartz about to respond when he hushed her a took her aside. "I know what you're thinking, but there really are some ponies above the law my dear. Cherished father is the biggest donor to this party, financially. So kicking his daughter out is not only going to piss off the association, but will probably cost you your job. Probably why that guard told you to do it, didn't wanna take the risk himself." Eris smiled, "besides she's drunk and every celebrity is entitled to a few public breakdowns." Eris walked Schwartz back to the bar where Cherished was seated. "I'll keep an eye on her from now on, Nova honour."

"My name is Schwartz Starr, my adopdive mother is our very own Princess Luna. I cannot be removed from my position by any word other than the word of either Celestia or Luna themselves."

*Schwartz explained to the two ponies. She then turned back to Cherished.*

"Now, if you would please come with me, I will escort you back home."

Six got in between Lovely and Valiant, "Hey hey hey simmer down now young lady, this is a classy event, aint no need fer violence, now come on Ahm sure is it was an accident, come on let's get ya cleaned up" he said gently.

Eris rolled his eyes and shook his head, "money is more powerful than a figure head."

 

Cherished refused to leave, she hadn't broken any rules and they had no merit to make her go. Cherished called her father, he promised to be right over. Cherished glared at Schwartz as she waited. A large crimson unicorn wearing a top designer tux came into the ball. He was followed by the head of the guard. "Daddy!" Cherished called out hugging her father as he came over. "Hello princess." Cherished's father said, kissing her on the forehead. Cherished's father turned to Schwartz, "you've been dismissed from your duties tonight. Please stop harassing my daughter." The head of the guard gave Schwartz a nod in approval. Cherish stuck her tongue out at Schwartz as her father and the head of the guard left.

 

Eris walked over to Schwartz, "see what money can do?"

 

Lovely began to pout, apparently she quite the angry drunk. "This dress was an original and HE ruined it. I deserve a the very least an apology and compensation."

Six spoke soothingly "Ahll see to it ya get yer compensation, now come on the longer ya stay here the more this ciderll stain yer dress and coat" he said as he placed a gentle hoof on her shoulder.

Lovely looked at Six, "who even are you? I've never even seen you before. Are you some kind of stalker?" Lovely pushed Six's hoof of her, "please don't touch me." Lovely turned and walked over to her brother, "Eris take me home."

 

Eris shook his head, "you're such a mess. You haven't even danced with anypony yet. How unladylike." Lovely frowned. Eris waved Six over, "dance with her could you?" Lovely scowled. Eris turned and took Cherished's hoof and began to dance with her.

Six looked to the ground, why was he acting like such a fool? "Ah... Ah understand if ya don't want me around." he looked over at the dance floor, but sighed, "Ah ain't even welcome here ah guess, ya don't have ta dance with me if ya don't wanna... Ahm Six String by the way, sorry fer the late introduction. "

*Schwartz snorted.*

"I dont take orders from ponies so easily controlled by money."

*She scoffed and flapped her bat wings.*

"Its disgraceful. I can already tell that my time in this academy is going to be quite obnoxious."

"My name is Lovely, Lovely Nova. Eldest daughter of the Nova family." Lovely did a curtsey, it was as if she had recited those lines thousands of times. One of Lovely's favourite songs began to play, she took Six's hooves and took him to the dance floor. They started to dance together. Lovely started smiling for the first time that night as Six spun her around, she looked beautiful even soaked in cider.

 

Eris smiled at Six and let go of Cherished. He approached Schwartz and bowed, "honour me with a dance?"
