"You can sleep in this bed over here," Red said to Nel waving a hoof towards the other bed, "I have a sleeping bag I can sleep in."

[Twinight125 45]

"Oh Uh thanks." Nel glanced at Steady again and shook his head while moving towards the other bed. Before he reached it however Nel pulled Red aside.

 

"Look Red I need to know... Is there something between you and Steady?"

(This is going to be hard. I never get mad at anyone.)

 

Red remained quiet and pulled a sleeping bag from a dresser drawer.

(Me too, apologies if I go too far with language at some point.)

 

"What's you problem Red? It's a simple question."

(It's fine. Plus it's hard to be mad when reading samples of Mike Nelson's Mind Over Matters. I'm crying from laughing so hard.)

 

Red still remained silent and got into his sleeping bag.

Nel's face began going red with frustration. He walked over and knelt down beside Red.

 

"So is it me you have a problem with? I can't see why if it didn't involve her."

Red looked at Nel. "We'll talk about it in the morning," he said.

"...fine, take the bed if you want, I'm going out for awhile." Nel huffed and made his way outside to cool off. Once he had rounded a corner Nel punched the brick wall of a nearby building.

 

'Come on Nel, you can't get all worried about this. It's probably nothing... or is it...'

Red heard a thump from the other side of the wall. It must have been Nel. Red starts to feel bad about resenting Nel like that, but decides to pull the sleeping bag over his head and tries to get some sleep.

 

(Is Steady already asleep, or does she have something to say about this?)

(Sleeping like Santa in the summer... ... Oh god that simile was bad. Anyways should we skip ahead?)

Steady awoke with a yawn and stretched her back as she looked around the room. Red laid on the floor in his sleeping bag but the bed next her was empty. Steady wSas about to wake Red up to ask where Nel was but halted when she saw him laying his head on the other side of her bed. His knees looked red from being on the floor all night.

 

"Psst, it's time to wake up Nel."

 

Nel groaned and lifted his head slowly. "Good morning Steady..."

Red heard movement so he decided to get up. He didn't sleep at all. Too many thoughts were going through his mind. He flopped the sleeping bag off his head reveling a slightly faded coat and bloodshot eyes.

Steady noticed Red get up and walked over to help him. She stopped when she noticed his face.

 

"Is everything alright Red? You're eyes are all red."

"I'm fine," Red said.

"Are you sure? You have bags under your eyes too."

"I'm sure," Red said.

Steady gave him one last worried glance before heading off to make something for breakfast. She placed some bread in the toaster and got out a jug of juice. Nel followed her and sat at the table.

 

He rested his head on his hoof and stared of into space with a frustrated look.

Red sat down by the table, but didn't have anything to eat. He wasn't hungry.

(fffuuu do I really have to be the ass in this?)

 

"So Red, we still have something to talk about."

 

"What is that Red?"

(I thought I was.)

 

"In due time," he replied.

(hooray, two asses in one fight! I really didn't want to have one character be the bad guy, creates disadvantages.)

 

"No I think it's best to clear things up now. I'm sick of just wondering with my own thoughts. You know what I said last night."

 

"What is he talking about Red?"

"Steady," Red started pulling out a couple of bits, "There is a coffee shop right across the street. If you want to, you can go ahead over there, and Nel and I will meet you over there."

[Twinight125 45]

"Oh um alright Red, I guess I'll see you two soon..." Steady took the bits and walked out with a worried look.

 

Nel smiled as she left but turned to Red once she shut the door.

 

"So do I get some answers now?"

"As soon as you start the questions," Red answered.
