"I think we should probably find him," Red answered.

"Okay, I'll be back later Daddy." Steady got up and gave Cloud a hug before following Red out the door.

 

"I'm sorry you have to go through all of this."

"Okay..." Steady walked with Red until a shout came from behind.

 

"Get back here you little punk!" As if on cue Nel burst between them from behind and continued to dash down the street. Steady turned to see two large stallions chasing him.

Steady stepped in front of them before they could pass.

 

"What's going on? Why are you chasing that colt?"

 

"He threw a drink in my face! Nopony gets away with that!"

 

(The usual exhaustion at work.)

"Well, no pony gets away with threatening a friend," Red snaps back.

"That little punk's your friend? Well if you know whats good for you you'll get out of our way!" The stallions approached Red but Steady stepped between them.

 

"Just hold on! Can you please let us take care of our friend?"

 

"Well uh-"

 

"Pleeease Im sure he'll never do it again" She gave them a look that melted their hearts almost immediately.

 

"Alright fine, but only this once." Steady smiled as the two left.

 

"Now that that's over we can find Nel. From what it looks he's been drinking... he never drinks."

"I didn't think he would," Red agreed, "He didn't seem like the pony to."

Steady gave Red one more worried glance before dashing off after Nel she slowed when she noticed a light and the gentle strumming of a guitar coming from an alley. She peered around the corner where she watched Nel sitting and singing with a group of other ponies. Each held a bottle of some type of alcohol.

Red followed Steady to the group. "Um... Nel," Red said in a confused fashion.

*In a slightly slurred voice* "Red! Steady! Come join us for a drink!" He beckoned for them to come closer.

 

"Nel, what have you been doing? You never drink."

 

"What, a colt can't have a little liquor with some friends in an alley?"

"Nel, we are a little worried about you," Red replied, "We just stopped a stallion from chasing after you claiming you threw a drink at him."

"Well he pushed me into a table! I jsut defended meself!" Nel huffed and took a swig of his drink. Steady took hold of his hoof.

 

"Why are you doing this to yourself Nel? If there's anything you want from me please tell me."

Red took a step back, expecting Nel to say something.

"No no, all I care is what makes you happy, worrying about me won't make you happy so just go on with your little coltfriend!" He took another drink and fell backwards.

Red shook his head. "Let me try something," Red said to Steady.

 

"Hey! Nel, buddy," Red said singy-songy, "Man, you must be tired after all that runnin'."

Nel gave Red a weird look. "Sure, but what's it to you?"

Nel looked at them both before waving goodbye to the other ponies. "Alright alright, but we better hurry. I'm a little dizzy."
