Zephyr40k 1 April 11, 2016 Share April 11, 2016 Hi there. I have a related question. I've never been to BABScon before or any MLP convention. What, in you folks' opinion, would be the minimum age to bring a kid to BABScon? I have a five year old daughter who is a huge MLP fan and I am considering taking her to BABScon. Wold that be appropriate? Or not? I know there is a speial kids' area with kids' events.... what age range are the kids in this area typically? Are the events OK for a five-year old? Thanks.

Hey Zephyr. Last year i saw a number of little ones ranging from 3 to 13-15 ish at the con itself. I know there is a whole other supervised section of the con just for younger ones as well. In regards to age that are there I honestly couldn't tell you. But rest assured there is entertainment set up for the entire con for everyone of any age. http://www.babscon.com/schedule-of-events/ Through this link just scroll all the way to the right of the provided schedule and everything under "Crusaders Clubhouse" is what will be happening in that area. Hope this helps!
Duster Dawnhorse 248 April 13, 2016 Share April 13, 2016 There's some events that are age locked. Like there's one that's 21+ due to alcohol being served and a few 18+ like mine. I personally won't be checking IDs at the door but the con staff might. If you're 13 you should for sure be with a parent and go to age appropriate events. Hi there. I have a related question. I was a vendor at the last two BABScons and saw plenty of kids in her age range. The children's events are great for five year olds and the kids I saw were having the time of their lives. A good number of kids that stopped by my table were the ones into pony and the parents weren't/had no idea what this pony business was. Not vending this year but kids super stoked to be at BABS were definitely a bright spot as a vendor. 1 Pacific Ponycon 17 || BABSCon 17 || Anime Expo 17 Panelist/Vendor || Panelist/Vendor/Media || Attendee Tumblr || DeviantART || Twitter

Two things, I split your post into its own topic since the other one is aged and not really something that happened. Secondly, I am a father. While my two kids are 15, I still have that parental sense that notices places that would make me uncomfortable having kids around. I was at BABS last year and will be attending this year. I am pleased to say that your daughter will have a blast at BABSCon, and you should be encouraged to know that the show staff and the Con staff go out of their way to make the con a very accessible event for all ages. Nicole Oliver (the voice of Princess Celestia) is known for making sure attention is paid to children, and she is practically guaranteed premium seating. You also have a massive amount of children specific events that adults are not permitted in. Story time and sing alongs with the voice actors, crafts like making paper shadow boxes, face painting, etc. Basically, I would have had no issue taking my kids to a Pony Con if they were your daughter's age. As Duster said, there are panels that are 18+, but they happen later in the day after daytime Con hours.
