How do you think each of the (hu)mane 6 would raise a child?

So for the latest chapter of a story I'm writing, I want to explore how the mane cast would act if they had to take care of something. What kind of guardians do you think they would be like?

Mm. Honestly a pretty good question, haha. I don't think their motherly side has been even hinted at much. I'll guess at my own impressions though here:

 

Twilight - I kinda see her being a little bit of a textbook mother on some points, going with what studies show is best for children or referring to different techniques of good parenting; that aside though, I think she'd be one of the most supportive and encouraging mothers, especially since she's relaxed her overzealous behavior a bit. Though, I 'do' think she would be very schedule and rule oriented, and would likely raise an obedient and driven child.

 

Applejack - She'd probably be very family and responsibility-centered. Always supportive and always willing to lend a comforting hoof, but very big on raising a child with good moral character, and a good work ethic/sense of responsibility. Would likely have her children helping out around the house/farm from early on. ...Would also possibly be a bit overprotective sometimes, or very worried for no strong reason early on.

 

Fluttershy - Can't picture it honestly, not without knowing the SO. She seems like one of the sweetest possible, but her parenting style I think would depend too much on who she's with. She seems the type to need that to be highly cooperative.

 

Pinkie Pie - Probably would be doing all she could to keep her kids having fun and making friends, which would have mixed results depending on the children she has. I think she'd be a parent that's hard to relate to, but still very loving and would do anything for her kids. Though, I think her friends would probably need to step in quite a bit (especially early on) to help her, as she seems like she'd be overly lax on discipline and serious parenting jobs. That aside, I think she'd be one of the most encouraging and supportive of the group, and would refuse to let her kids be unhappy ever.

 

Rainbow Dash - I kinda see her being a mix of lax and strong as a parent. Probably the type to slightly push her kids to be themselves, do bold things, and to not back down or sit out on stuff they want to do. I think she'd raise her kids to be a little wild or overly brave in that way. Unless she wound up with a very quiet or shy kid. I think she'd still have a similar theme in her parenting, but I honestly can see her being soft and encouraging for some of the most reserved kids, quietly rooting them on and making them feel like even small things they do are huge accomplishments and feats.

 

Rarity - Again, I have issues seeing her as a parent. She seems like she would have a thing for being a bit overly dramatic or prone to extremes. Though, I also see her being exceedingly loving and prone to spoiling her kids. Though, I'm not fully sure how good she would be at setting boundaries or enforcing rules while still intertwining it with love. I think she would probably need a more relaxed or irresponsible SO to act as a balancing counterpoint to raise a child.

 

But yeah, that's my general thoughts on how they'd be as parents.
