@@crispy fries,

Daring Do is on another chase. To capture the priceless treasure for the Yakyakastan Yaks. She had found it in a dig she was doing far in the northern part of Griffon Stone. After retrieving it she had made her way back to her home just outside of Ponyville.

She was genuinely surprised at how easy it was this time around. Except... when she got home they had been waiting. Waiting just for her. She ran, as fast as she could, she took flight but noticed that the ponies that were chasing her, were also pegasi.

After a tangle in hoof to hoof combat the rough ponies took her saddle bags which inside held the treasure of Yakyakastan. And it left her in a huge pile of pain, she would not be going after those ponies for quite a while. she was able to stand on the three good legs that she had, and managed to wrap her head with part of her shirt to stop the bleeding.

Her wings were both badly broken, and there was a good possibility that her hip, and leg were broken as well.

It was just by chance that a unicorn pony was heading in her direction. The unicorn's name was Ballpoint, a pony of many words. She was an investigative journalist, coming to write another story on A.K. Yearling, Daring's ponysona for her Daring Do books.

"Well... this might be quite a surprise for her." Daring said to herself as she watched the unicorn getting nearer, in a great deal of pain.

Ballpoint was on her way to see A.K. Yearling for an interview for the newspaper she worked for, the Canterlot Press, and she was glad to be getting the chance to interview Daring Do herself. As she approached her remote cabin though, it appeared this wouldn't be a simple interview.

When Ballpoint saw that Yearling was on the ground, she rushed over to see what had happened. "Ms. Yearling, what's going on? Do I need to get help?"

@@crispy fries,

"Please.. Daring Do. And... well. Help might be a good suggestion right about now. But the help that I need from you is something of more importance, I can manage to get myself to the hospital. You need to listen, and listen carefully." She balanced herself on two legs and pulled the blue unicorn close.

"I'm sure you noticed a few pegasi flying overhead as you were making your way to me. Those ponies took something extremely rare and purely priceless.  It is a one of a kind jewel encrusted, horn ring that belonged to the first ruler over the Yaks. I was bringing it home to restore before taking it to them. You have to get it back! If you don't it will be lost forever, being traded on the black market who knows how many times." Daring was fighting back painful tears as she placed her leg back to the ground.

She looked at the unicorn and she knew this was a lot to ask a pony who had just come for a simple interview, but it was of the utmost importance.

"Please, I wouldn't be asking if there were any other way, but I can't do anything in this condition."

Ballpoint was already writing down everything Daring Do said, as this material was just as good, if not better than interview with A.K. Yearling. It appeared that she had a much larger story on her hooves, and this could prove to be absolute journalistic gold. A stolen yak artifact was just too good of a scoop to pass up, and Ballpoint even had a chance to record everything firsthand.

"Can you tell me anything about the ponies who stole it from you?" asked Ballpoint.

"Three of them, one stallion had a dark gray coat, bright yellow mane and tail. His cutie mark was a green emerald jewel. The other two stallions were twins, both with white and brown coats and sandy brown mane and tails. One of them had a cutie mark of three gold rings, and the other's was a gold coin and three rubies surrounding it. They had thick accents, they had to have been from Arimaspi Territory, south of the Macintosh Hills, into the Mysterious south." Daring winced in pain as she accidentally tried to flutter her wings.

"Daring, you gotta stay with me. Any information you got could be vital to finding these guys. Now, do you have any idea of who they might have been working for?"

While she may not have been a detective, Ballpoint could chase a lead just as well as one. Figuring out who she was up against would be vital, and Ballpoint just hoped Daring had some idea.

@@crispy fries,

She steadied herself, trying hard to focus. Shaking her head to try and get the information out before the pain completely consumed her.

"Yes, they were more than likely working for Cavalleron, he is a dirty scoundrel. And if he gets his hooves on that piece we can guarantee he will sell it to the highest bidder. I have had to deal with him in the past, he has quite a few places he likes to hide and one of them is in the Mysterious South in the Forbidden Jungle. He also has a hideout in the Griffish Isles, and one in the Crystal Mountains. I would head south from here to check in the Forbidden Jungle. From the looks of those pegasi they surely were acquired by Cavalleron down in that area."

"Okay, I have one last question if you're able to answer it: do you know of anypony who could help me find the ponies that stole the artifact or find the artifact itself?"

Ballpoint knew a bit about Cavalleron. The Canterlot Press was a large and influential newspaper after all, and it had covered the treasure hunter in the past.

@@crispy fries,

"There is a pony, she charts stars and effectively the geography below them, she has maps and charts for the entire of Equestria. She lives just outside Ponyville in an observatory. Her name is Stardust. She will help you, just let her know that I sent you. And give her this." She pulled a small coin from her pocket and placed it in Ballpoint's hoof.

"She will know you are telling the truth when you show her this." She wobbled a bit as she placed her hoof down. "Now... I have to be on my way to the hospital before I pass out. And you need to be on your way. Best of luck, don't let me down!"

Ballpoint simply nodded before walking off to find Stardust's observatory, which she doubted would be very difficult.

It seemed a little unbelievable that seemingly by chance, Ballpoint had stumbled upon a huge story like this. Whether things turned out good or bad, the story was sure to make the front page, and would no doubt be seen all over Equestria. Disregarding how it would massively boost her career, Ballpoint felt as though recovering the artifact was the right thing to do.

After a fairly brief walk, she reached the observatory and knocked on the door. Hopefully, Stardust would be able to help Ballpoint like Daring had said.

@@crispy fries,

Stardust was in the middle of putting some of her maps away when she heard the knock on her door. She was not expecting company and was startled. She accidentally dropped the maps in her hooves and she let out a small sigh as she looked at the floor.

"One second." She called down the stairs in the direction of the door. She quickly picked up the maps and placed them on her desk. Making her way to the door she tried to straighten her mane a bit.

She opened the door reveling a blue unicorn whom she had never met before.

"Uhm... how can I help you?" She asked.

"Hi, I'm Ballpoint, Canterlot Press, and I'm guessing you're Stardust. Daring Do told me to find you. She was hurt by some thugs working for somepony named Cavalleron, and she said that they had stolen some sort of Yak artifact from her. Here, she wanted me to show you this." Ballpoint showed Stardust the coin she had been given.

Stardust's brow furrowed as she listened to Ballpoint. Then she saw the coin, she knew what this pony was saying was true, no doubt about it.

"One second." She said calmly. She turned and went back upstairs and quickly flew around her home gathering the things that she would need. Finally folding the flap on her saddle bag she made her way down stairs and out the door. She locked the door and looked at the pony.

"Okay, where do we need to go?" She asked.

Ballpoint was a bit surprised that all she had to do was show the coin and Stardust was suddenly ready to go, but she supposed that she had some sort of relationship with Daring Do.

"Daring said that the thugs are probably headed to the Forbidden Jungle. I hope you know where that is," said Ballpoint.

"Oh yes, I've been there many times." She looked over the unicorn, noticing that the lack of wings would make this a bit longer trip then it would normally take her when she flies.

"We should head to the train station. We should be able to make it before the last train to Appleoosa." She started to trot in the direction of the train station.

Ballpoint began heading to the train station, and took out her notepad as she walked. "So, Stardust, what can you tell me about the forbidden Jungle? Oh, and I'm Ballpoint by the way."

She wasn't familiar with the Forbidden Jungle, and if she was going into what was likely dangerous territory, it seemed best to get any information she could on it.

@@crispy fries,

"It's nice to meet you Ballpoint. And what I can tell you about the jungle isn't much. I spent most of my time above it. But the time that I did spend on the ground it was full of dangerous snakes, spiders, and vines. There are many areas that are so overgrown that you wouldn't be able to get through it even with the sharpest sword." She could hear the train approaching the station. They were nearly there and she knew that the train wouldn't leave for another 30 minutes after it arrived.

"There are also many traps that have been pony made, and more than likely made by Cavalleron and his goons. That is where I found this coin, and where I met Daring. She saved me after I had gotten caught in one. I repaid her by giving her this coin. I thought it might have been some rare old coin. Turns out it was just a silly bit from about 70 years ago. But Daring said she would always keep it, and I will give it back when we find Cavalleron and that artifact!" She explained to Ballpoint.
