So, the father of all those changelings

who do you think the father of all of those changelings were in the episode? And, by association, do you think chrysalis was the mother of them all?

Do you think those eggs were made the "old fashioned" way, or do you have another headcanon for the changeling eggs and grubs?

The way these type of creatures usually do it is a drone/worker is the one that impregnates the queen, I think, so it could have been one of the drones that is technically the father. We could get into detail in that of course, but it could get a tad uncomfortable. In these types of hiveminds, the queen is the all important being above all else, so technically the father doesn't matter at all.

My headcanon:

Changelings, as we know, aren't natural creatures. They're unnatural *things* formed of the blackest magic. The comic issue that covers their origin seems to show Chrysalis and the rest of the changelings being "formed" at the same time. (It's creepy, too; They seem to be made of dead unicorn skeletons that fell through from a graveyard, amongst other things.)

So how do I reconcile this with Thorax and co.? At some point Chrysalis, attempting to increase the size of her army, attempted some evil magical experiments to create more changelings. This was a small batch, a simple experiment.

For whatever reason - Maybe she couldn't get all the magic to align just right to replicate her original creation - The resulting changelings... weren't quite right. All of them had abnormalities, defects, that led to Chrysalis killing them in frustration and abandoning the experiment.

All save one, or so it seemed. There seemed to be one salvageable changeling from the batch, that had nothing obviously wrong with it. It seemed to be a proper changeling, just like the original "true" changelings.

No, no defects on this one. Chrysalis would let it live. For now.
