God Of The Void 296 August 28, 2016 Share August 28, 2016 Let's get serious for a moment here. I feel I'm not the only brony who's done this. So, I ask you, fellow ponies; Have you ever pretended that the real world was the pony universe in some way? Some examples: Pretending you are your OC Pretending other people are ponies Pretending to be a pony or other character from the show Using terms normally used in the pony universe in the real world Pretending certain places are locations in the pony universe etc. Not all light is good and not all darkness is evil. Darkness can be used for good just as much as light can be used as a force of destruction.
Justin_Case001 4,934 August 30, 2016 Share August 30, 2016 Well, I sometimes use pony speak on the forums... I'd like to steer this in a bit more of a philosophical direction for a moment, if I may. I haven't done the literal examples you provided, but not a day goes by that I don't desperately wish that I could see the world the way the ponies do. And this has nothing to do with anything being equine. I'm referring to seeing the world with their optimism, their love of life, their love of others. To the ponies, each day is bright, beautiful, and brimming with endless possibilities, each overflowing with joy, and precious time spent in the company of beloved friends. I want to look at life like this, and I try, but I can't. I'm a pessimistic misanthrope. I don't want to be like that, but I can't see the world as anything but a wasteland in which I futilely attempt to minimize my suffering and reiterate fleeting, simple pleasures in order to keep depression from overtaking me. Sometimes I wonder why I should bother, why I should keep trying when this world, this putrid, stinking world, is all that life will ever be. I try so hard to look at each day the way Pinkie would, but I can't come anywhere close. I walk around, I drive around, I look around at what's before me and I think, "This is it? This is all that life is? Just asphalt, cars, dilapidated urban sprawl, and the perpetual struggle to glean enough money to pay the bills and escape into the brighter, better world in our LCD screens?" I want life to be like it is in the pony world, and sometimes I find the inevitability of reality unbearable, like a great despair welling up inside me, a massive, crippling force that crushes me under its weight. I hope I didn't cast a pall over your thread.
Luminance 2,187 August 31, 2016 Share August 31, 2016 I agree in that I want to see the world in the example of Equestria but the harsh reality is, we are a long ways away from ever experiencing that. Seeing the world in the light of an pony's point of view only reminds us that we don't live in the dreams of our pony friends and that we may only see that dream on a screen. SpectraDust 149 August 31, 2016 Share August 31, 2016 I've pretend to be my OC a few times, and I sometines use pony terms like 'everypony' here. I also sometime visualise non-pony book characters as ponies.
OmegaBeamOfficial 623 August 31, 2016 Share August 31, 2016 Well, here are some answers to those points you've made. I have made ONE OC in the past but I never tend to really use him, so... Meh. Well, I'm not sure if this counts but when I'm on these forums and I see a profile picture of a pony, I imagine the pony being animated and saying the post in my head, It's really weird. Again, not sure if this counts but I have pretended to be characters in the show before online in RP's and on Ponytown. I only use pony speak on the forums, sometimes it breaks but I try to make sure I'm as consistent with it as possible. As for the last one, that's a nope. Please check out this awesome looking My Little Pony fan game being developed by Rikifive. Here's a link to It's post: https://mlpforums.com/topic/156773-my-little-pony-the-game/ This picture indicates the game's development progress, It's pretty neat if you wanna use it yourself. Just to clarify, guys, this isn't a mask/cover-up for the problems of the real world. I merely wanted to know if you used your imagination like that in any way. I understand that the world isn't all rainbows and lollipops, but that's beside the point. Not all light is good and not all darkness is evil. Darkness can be used for good just as much as light can be used as a force of destruction.
