Crystal wakes up with the most adorable yawn and stretch, in many ways she was like a cat. Shaded couldn't help it "D'aaaaw, now matter how old you are dear Queen, but you are always so adorable when you're asleep and when you wake up"

 

Crystal blushes "T-thank you Shade" she then walks over and kisses his cheek "You will always be my protector"

Indicus just nodded, "Well our destination Canterlot awaits." Indicus smiled and gave a exaggerated bow before leading the group out of the train and into the city proper. "Welcome to Canterlot the capital of Equestria and home to the most prissy ponies around."

Crystal smiles as she and Shaded are lead off of the train, Night Wing was waiting for them in her Night Guard armor and uniform. She salutes both Indicus and Shaded before hugging them both and crying into their manes "I-I thought I w-would never see you two again, n-not after w-what happend to y-your squad"

Indicus tightly hugged Night Wing similar to how a father would hug a daughter. Shaded would already know this but Indicus viewed Night Wing similarly to how Celestia viewed Twilight and it showed. "Well after the incident I had to sort myself out and then took some mercenary work." Indicus sighed, "Though to be honest I should have visited but anyway, I'm here now though I'm sure you have been briefed on the reason, but I intend to visit a little as well."

 

Indicus smiled, "Well might as well tell you who this mare is behind me. Night Wing meet Crystal, my marefriend, Crystal meet Night Wing the mare I trained personally a while ago and now Captain of the Night Guard."

Night Wing hugs him more, and nods as she wipes her tears away "Yes I have, the whole thing where guards have been using their status for evil deeds, it sickens me really, we all took an oath to protect the innocent, not extort protection money out of them or to destroy their lives" she says with a shudder "and it is a pleasure to meet you Queen Crystal Cocoon, my coltfriend told me about you" she says with a soft smile

 

Crystal blushes "P-please I am no longer a queen, haven't been for over a century, j-just Crystal will be fine, thank you"

"I'll find the guards abusing their power and take care of them soon enough but for now I want to see you and the Night Guard, visit a little. Maybe even test a few guards to see how their training is going so far. Maybe I'll do the same for the Day Guard but that is for another time." 

 

Indicus shook his head, "So how has being captain of the guard been treating you Night Wing?"

Night Wing nods "The Night Guard are good, I hoof choose the recruits, so we don't have many problems, and being the new captain is great," she says as she begins leading the way "I know the guys that stayed will be very happy to see you two again and the newer ones could benefit from seeing two legends in action" she says and smiles.

 

"S-so miss Wing, has Sommer p-proposed to you yet?" Crystal asks her

 

Night giggles "Not yet, but it's okay, I want to let him travel around a bit more before I tie him down to Canterlot"

"I'm sure they will be quite happy to see us. But first lets get to the castle and let the Princesses know we're here, then I can laugh at some of the Solar Guard, and what the Night guard is up to when they wake up tonight." Indicus waved them forward as he walked towards the castle.

Night Wing chuckles "the older ones, they'll love to see you, the others will probably soil themselves" she laughs and nuzzles the both of them "I truly have missed the two of you, you two were like my father and older brother to me" the shy batmare says a little and looks at them both

Indicus returns the nuzzle and gives Night Wing a hug as a warm smile makes itself known on his face. "Your like a daughter to me Night Wing, you know that." Indicus laughed at the mental image of the new guards reacting to two well renowned warriors suddenly appearing. "The greenhorns their reactions will be quite fun to see."

"Hahaha! I kind of doubt those recruits want to meet the old fart Shaded" Shade says with a laugh, he then looks to Night Wing "Yes miss Wing, I know that's what you all called me back in the day, yoyu young whelps" he says and shakes his head "Better than the old hybrid fart" he says jokingly

 

Night coughs "Well you two were like our fathers, most of us didn't even have families, so we chose to make the guard our family"

Indicus laughed, "They loved you Shade you were great for charades." Indicus looked at Night Wing once more, "It's not unusual for close friends in the military to be practically family. There is a reason why the term brothers in arms is around." Indicus smiled, "Well lets get to the Castle the princesses are waiting."

He laughs "That is true, but still, I think they liked you more" he says and Night Wing just shook her head "What is it Night Wighty?" he teases her with her old nickname

 

she blushes "Y-you haven't called me that in a-ages" she says then shakes her head "We all loved you equally, just like you did with us" she says "I mean, when Indicus found me stealing from him when I was little, I thought he'd flay me alive.. but no, he took me in and practically raised me, and you were always like an uncle to me Shade"

Indicus smiled, "I remember that. To be honest I was impressed more then anything, you had my coin purse out of my pocket and almost got away if you didn't go for some gems I was carrying around. It is rare to find someone that can sneak up on me like you did."

 

Indicus laughed, "besides you were way to damn cute to leave behind."

Night Wing blushes "Hush up father, not in front of Uncle Shade and mama Crystal" she says trying to hide her blush behind her mane but it was futile. Crystal was giggling and blushed "M-mama Crystal?" she asks

 

Night blushes "W-well Indicus was like a father to me, so it o-only makes sense"

Indicus smiled patting his practically adopted daughter on the back. "It's the sworn duty of any father to embarrass the hell out of their daughter. So when I get to meet your fiance's parents we're going to have alot of fun." Indicus's smile grew wider causing his fangs to show.

 

It was awhile later they arrived at the castle where two Royal Guards stood at attention. "Who goes there?" Came the standard challenge.

 

Indicus looked the two in the eyes and flashed his fangs. "Funny you must ask, I thought the drill instructors told horror stories about me." Indicus held the smile as the stallions visibly shook, letting him right in.

 

"That never gets old." Indicus chuckled.

Night Wing chuckles "Those two were new recruits last year, if they were part of my squad, they'd know you two by sight" she says as she leads the way to the throne room, where two of her lieutenants were guarding it, the both snap to attention "Captain Ni..." one of them says before blinking "Ind..Indicus?"

 

Night Wing chuckles "Yes Lieutenant Swift, Indicus has returned" she says as she is let in with the others.

Indicus not being able to control his more snarky tendencies walked in as dramatically as possible giving an exaggerated bow. "All hail the glorious sunbutt first of her name, controller of the big ass burning ball of gases in the sky, winner of every cake eating contest in the known world. And the second most powerful being in the known world."

 

Indicus smiled knowing she had to keep her composure and knowing he would pay for this.

Shaded then copies him with Luna "All hail the glorious moonbutt! First of her name, controller of the second big round cheese like thing in the night sky! Lover of video games and third most powerful being in the known world!" he says with an equally exaggerated bow.

 

Night Wing couldn't help it and rolled around on the floor laughing her heart out while Crystal couldn't help but let out a cute little giggle as well.

Celestia manages to mostly keep her composure, though Indicus could see her eye twitch and a subtle glare that spelled his doom later. Indicus just smiled as if Celestia was not trying to strike him down with her gaze alone.

 

Something that would usually scare most nobles and even some world leaders into compliance though Thalemns leaders over the years happened to quite happily oppose her when they saw fit without care. Then there was the griffin kings that happened to be quite stubborn so she would have to use other means to various levels of success.

 

After the two's short stare-down Celestia nodded. "It is nice to see that you have accepted our invitation and the job, Indicus. Also welcome Shaded it has been awhile since the last time we met." Celestia looked to the disguised Crystal and smiled. "Nice to see you as well Crystal, if you want you can drop the disguise, the staff will keep to themselves and the guards will not bother you."

Crystal smiles and drops her disguise as she runs over and hugs them both "It is so lovely to be back here Celly and Lulu, and just so you know, my old Lieutenant and yours too Lulu, is still the charmer as ever, he's already wooed his way into miss Rarity's heart and swept her off of her hooves" she giggles

 

Luna giggles and smiles "Doesn't surprise me, he's always had a way with mares..I remember at times when he would flirt with our mother"

 

Shaded blushes "I c-couldn't help it that she's an extraordinarily beautiful mare, something you two have gotten from here if I may say so"

Celestia returned the hug from Crystal. "Why thank you Shaded I'm glad you think so." Celestia took a sideways glance at Indicus. "Indi here never complements me no matter how much I dress up." Indicus laughs "Never pegged you for one to fish for complements. Besides you had every guard mares and stallions pinning after you every time you even try on a dress, you didn't need me." Celestia mocked offence, "Why I am a mare like any other of course I want complements and none of them see me as more then their ruler." Celestia's tone took a lower tone. "You and your fellow spec ops, members were the only ones to disregard my status and that feels good. Even Twilight thinks of me as more of a mentor and princess then another mare." 

 

Indicus shook his head and gave Celestia a light hug. "You know what I think of you Celly, and you and Luna and Shaded are great friends a title I don't give out freely. We're here for you."

 

"Anyway I hate to break the mood but you did want me for a search and capture type job." Celestia chuckles as she lets go of Indicus, "Thanks for that and yes we do want you to preform such a job but I better let Luna give the details."

Celestia nods "I know dear, and count you lot as great friends as well" she then gets up and walks over to the large table that is at one side of the throne room "Yes, we've been receiving reports of guards, sadly my own, extorting protection money from ponies who can barely afford it, as it exuberant amounts" 

 

Night Wing nods "It's disgusting is what it is, it is our sworn duty to protect the innocent ponies of Equestria, we sore an oath on the Princesses themselves, the fact they are doing this, it means they are not real guards or they've decided to be traitors to the realm. Part of our oath was to never ask for any recompense or protection money" she growls then calms down "I'm sorry, it's just..I can't believe ponies can be that greedy. I mean..if they were real guards, they wouldn't be in any want for money, our pay is really good and so are the benefits"

 

Crystal cowered a little, and Shaded hugs her "shh, shh, it's okay Crystal, Night Wing may look scary when she's angry but at most times, she's a big cuddly teddy bear, much like our Indicus"

 

Luna giggles "I forgot how much of a teddy bear Indicus could be" she says with a slight blush

Indicus gave Night Wing a reassuring hug, "I know, and I'll find who did this and they will pay for their crimes against the shopkeepers they extort." Indicus was about to protest Shaded's statement when Luna spoke up causing Indicus to light up all kinds of red "Uhhh, I thought we would never speak of that Luna, it was only a few times."

Luna blushes "sorry darling, it's just been so long and I did cherish those times you were there to comfort me during my most lonely nights" she says as she nuzzles him and then points to the shops that were being extorted "These are the ones that we know of, now it is possible, that these fake guards use thugs to go and collect the money so that they are not recognized by anypony"
