It was a cold day, as Custos was walking through the capital city of the north. The city had actually no official name, but people called it "Frejilord" His armor stood out in the completely white town, as his giant black armor emitted small rhytmic *Cling* Each time he took a step.

 

He was on his way back from a contract the king had offered him. It was about clearing a Royal Wyvern nest near a militaristic base of the north. He walked straight past the guards and knocked on the door "Here for the award" Said Custos with a neutral tone, the 5 heads of the previously dangerous beasts, hanging limply in his hand.

 

Truth be told, he was hoping to meet the sorceress. Wind based enchantments are practically impossible to come by, so if she could help, it would help his job tremendously.

Avia had been hanging around in the forests near the town when she had spotted the armoured men for the first time, or actually, she had heard him and went to see where the sound came from, and then she found him. he had sparked her interest, but even more the five heads in his hand. curiously she had followed him to the town. 

 

in the town she had walked behind him, with her hood on her head so that her white hair wouldn't draw any attention. she casually walked a few steps behind him and no one had noticed her, and even if they did they inmediately forgot about her. 

 

he went to the castle and said something about an award, Avia smiled, she knew it would have been that. when he had been let in she folowed him inside, not throught the door but as a breeze over the castle walls, and stood near a wall to observe him a little more.

Custos's medallion shook slightly suddenly as he was let in. Magic was being used... He was now on edge for surprise magic attacks, but he didn't let that show as he walked towards the king. He dropped the heads in the big tub and some guards took it away. The king smiled "Good work. As promised..." He threw a noticeably large coin purse towards Custos, which he grabbed without saying a word. He was about to go when he decided to ask "Is the Phantom home?" Asked Custos, his lifeless helmet staring at the king

Avia still stood quiet near the wall, half hidden behind one of the curtains, when she heard the knight guy ask for her. she raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything, it wasn't usual that people asked to her and she was quite happy with that, especially since she didn't know the intentions of this guy. she saw the gaze of the king go around the room but he didn't see her, even though he looked directly at her. then the king shrugged his shoulders "I wouldn't know" he said "why do you want to know?" he asked back.

However, that request will remain private between her and me" He said, still with a neutral emotionless voice. 'a request, hmm?' Avia thought as she looked at him walk out.of the door. Even thought she was still cautious she folowed him out of the door and outside she leaned against the wall. "You were looking for the Phantom?" she asked without raising her voice even one bit, but even though she talked quiely she was pretty sure he could hear her.

Cutso turned around towards the source of the voice, and saw a stunning young woman with snow white hair, and clear blue eyes. There was no mistaking it, this was who he was looking for.

 

"Master sorceress, i have been looking for you" Said Custo with a polite bow. "I have a special request to ask of you, a request that needs to be discussed... In private, if you have the time."

Custos's medal was trembling violently, someone was next to him. Question is... Who? Suddenly, a gentle voice called out. Asking if he was looking for the phantom. Cutso turned around towards the source of the voice, and saw a stunning young woman with snow white hair, and clear blue eyes. There was no mistaking it, this was who he was looking for.

"Master sorceress, i have been looking for you" Said Custo with a polite bow. "I have a special request to ask of you, a request that needs to be discussed... In private, if you have the time."

Avia walked a few steps closer to the armour guy. "What could be so importand that we can't discuss it here?" she said with a hand gesture to what was around them. "And besides, I don't even know who you are, how do I know I can trust you. Who says you won't kill me as soon as we're 'somewhere private' " she continued on a serious tone. "My mom and dad always learned me not to come with strange men" she then added in a more relaxed tone.

Custo stood still and stared at her for a bit of time. "Well, i suppose i have nothing else to give you but my word. However, i can assure you that i have no reason to kill you. That would be a waste. Besides, i am not even sure i can kill you. Killing monsters is my specialty, not humans." Said Custo. His emotionless helmet still  staring at her

For a few moments Avia stared back at him, trying to read any emotion of his face but she obviously couldn't since he was wearing a helmet, then she slowly nodded. "Allright then, I'll come with you." she said and paused before continuing "but you have to promise not to keep that helmet on. If you want to discuss something with me I want to see your face." she crossed her arms in front of her chest and looked at him with her piercing blue eyes.

Custo's breath got caught in his lung. He did not like that. Hiding facial expressions and talking with a straight face, is not something he is good at. However, despite that, he decided to man up and do it anyway "Fine, however i will only take off my helmet when we approach privacy" Said Custo with a definite tone in his voice.

Avia nodded "that's allright" she said. "where did you want to go to have some 'privacy'?" she then asked "I hope you didn't want to go to the tavern since every word that's said there will be heard" she placed her hand on her hip and kept looking at him, or rather, his helmet. she didn't like talking to a helmet, it didn't feel like talking to a human.

Custo looked down at her "I have hired a room in the local inn" Said Custo "I am sure that we can get plenty of privacy there" Said Custo as he walked towards the inn. When they arrived inside his room, Custo sat down on the bed and looked at the ice sorceress for a few seconds. Upon noticing her gaze, he remembered the helmet. "Oh right, my helmet." He mentally steeled himself, and took off his helmet for the first time in forever, revealing some slightly messy hair. "Better?" He asked.

without saying a word Avia folowed him to the inn, to his room. she still wasn't completely comfortable with being alone with an unknown guy but at least there was a window here so she could escape easily if needed. quietly she waited for him to remove his helmet and she couldn't help but smile a tiny little bit when he had removed it, he was quite a handsom looking guy. she already felt better when he had removed it so she nodded in response.

Custo nodded "Alright" He took out his sword gently as non-threatening as possible. He put it down on the table, for her to see and pointed at a picture of what looked like a dragon on the sword "This here is a sword i found in the angient cave west from this town. It has a dragons power trapped in it, and the only way to trigger the runes, is through wind enchantments performed my sorceresses" Said Custo, he looked her in the eyes "Can you help me?"

Avia stepped closer and looked at the sword with interest, even though she didn't use weapons herself she was quite interested in them. her eyes went over the picture of the dragon and then looked at the guy "I could certainly help you, but how do I know that you won't destroy the town and use it's powers for bad things?" she asked. she had a thing for thinking in worst case cenarios which he should have noticed by now. "by the way, I don't even know your name or who you are" she said, without breaking eye contact.

Custos nodded "Right." He got up "My names is Custos, the butcher of the north or the iron clad giant if that rings a bell. I slay monsters for a living, which is why the sword you are looking it is made of silver. I am a Witcher in case you haven't connected the dots." He looked at the sword "Well, if i wanted to terrorize villages or people, What would be stopping me from doing that now? The guards are weaker than a damn ghoul so i would have no challenge raiding a city or two alone, however i don't do that. So why would i start after this?

Avia smiled from his bold introduction, his name indeed rang a bell in her head. "well then, mister butcher of the north, you already seem to know me but I am Avia, Phantom of the highland. I also happen to have the boring job of advicing the king. and to answer your question of who would stop you if you decided to terrorise villages, it would probably be me. that's why I don't want you to do that since that means more work for me." she said with a dry tone.

Then she took a step back again "do you want me to do it now? In that case, I would advice you to take a step back, I don't know what will happen." she said

Custo nodded "Yes please" He said and did as he was told. She was quite fast to accept his words, which seemed weird for him. What am I gonna get now?" she asked.

Avia shook her head "I have no interest in material things." she said. It was true, she had everything she could ever need and if she needed something else she could ask the king and she would get it. "And I don't want the sword either, what could I use it for?" she said on a sassy tone. But then the sass faded and she got a bit red on her cheeks "I, ehm... Kinda need help with a little something, it's kinda silly actually." she said, much shyer this time.

Custo noticed the little blush that flushed up in her cheeks. It was quite cute actually "In my mind, no request is silly. Besides, i owe you a favor now, so please do not be afraid to say what you need. Even if you wanted some holy water from a mountain, i would go get it for you"
