Clockwork nodded, especially at the lonely part "Not much to tell about myself either, I'm a man who enjoys spending time with my clocks and mechanical projects in my workshop away from everypony and listening to my records. Obviously though, as my name implies, I sell clocks and things of that sort for my career,it gets lonely at times, but I kind of like that way, no one to bully me like back in school" he says with a soft smile, eating his chicken slowly, clearly savoring the taste.

Quinty nodded "at least you have a clear name, something that implies who you are. I mean, I'm Quinty, what's a Quinty? Well, it's what happens when your parents can't decide if they want to call you Minty or Aqua." she said and smiled. She liked her name but sometimes she wished it was a bit clearer. "You got bullied? Did you kick the bullies asses later?" she asked. She never went to school so she didn't really know how that worked, but that was her solution to problems with annoying people.

They didn't bully me after that, but I will always have the scars as reminders of the beatings I got before I had that little 'accident'" he says with a soft sigh "what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger, right?"

Quinty smiled "good! And I don't think your mechanical eyes is scary, it's cool!" she said, and it was true. She wasn't scared of him at all. Scars were what made someone to who they are. She had several scars herself too, from the countless times she chrashed into the rocks or on the beach, but she made sure to hide them under her clothes, not because she was ashamed but because she didn't want any difficult questions.

He smiles and nods "Thanks, and well it was probably scary to them because all they could see was a flash of metal before they landed on the cold hard ground, then the piercing stare of my eye" he says making the shutter shut and open again as if to clear it of any obstacles.  He smiles warmly at her "Not to mention the years I spent learning martial arts, I mean it took a lot of discipline just to make sure I didn't kill them, I got close but I'd never take another life unless absolutely necessary"

"Truth be told, I wouldn't mind somewhere nice and quiet for me and my cat to live, away from all these factories and the smog, not to mention the other people, The sea sure sounds nice, but I think the air alone might rust my mechanical eye and arm..hmm" he says as he drags out his book and flips through it, "I'm sure there's a rustproof thing here somewhere" he says as he flips through the pages..then blushes "sorry, I kind of get excited when I think of something new to upgrade my eye and arm"

And I don't need help with pearl diving, I can do that perfectly fine myself. I know no one who can stay under water longer as me." she said with a proud little smile.

Quinty chuckled "one boat? I got many, but my Boat is a little sail boat, it's the boat my dad took me fishing in for the first time. I take good care of it and try to upgrade it if I can. I also have a little row boat and one with a motor, I like that one the least, it's too loud." she said "but you want to get out of the city? Why don't you go on vacation or something?"

quinty shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know, the only place I've ever been to is to manehatten and to my own house, and to the village most nearby to buy things." she said. "but if you really want to get away, maybe you can come to my side of equestria once, it's on the complete oposite site as manehatten, you can't get any further away from here as there" she smiled. "my dad gives surfing lessons, maybe he can teach you"

Sounds interesting, I might just take you up on that offer" he says then notices a somewhat drenched looking stallion walking in, he couldn't help but chuckle but when he got a closer look, his eyes widen "F-father?" he asks as he sees the captain's hat under the stallions arm and the uniform he was wearing.

 

The stallion didn't notice him at first until he said "Father" he looks around and spots him "Clock? Is that you?" he asks, walking over to him and sighs in relief "Thank the heavens, mind if I sit down?"

 

Clockwork nods "Well, I don't mind of course but you'd have to ask my companion, Quinty"

 

The stallion smiles softly "Would you mind if I sit here ma'am?"

"Surfing huh? Sounds interesting, I might just take you up on that offer" he says then notices a somewhat drenched looking stallion walking in, he couldn't help but chuckle but when he got a closer look, his eyes widen "F-father?" he asks as he sees the captain's hat under the stallions arm and the uniform he was wearing.

 

The stallion didn't notice him at first until he said "Father" he looks around and spots him "Clock? Is that you?" he asks, walking over to him and sighs in relief "Thank the heavens, mind if I sit down?"

 

Clockwork nods "Well, I don't mind of course but you'd have to ask my companion, Quinty"

 

The stallion smiles softly "Would you mind if I sit here ma'am?"

Quinty tilted her head, so this was Clockworks father. When he asked if he could sit there Quinty nodded. "I'm Quinty" she mumbled and looked at the napkin she was playing with, making it into a ball and unfolding it again. She wasn't exactly a fan of other people, especially not importand people. When she was at home she didn't mind, she was the boss there, she made the rules, but here she had nothing to say about anything.

He smiles softly and sits "Don't worry, won't be staying too long, I've got an important meeting at the keep before setting off again.." he looks to his son "Come now son, you know my job is important, the Princesses rely on me to keep the seas safe" he says, patting him on the head "I promise, after this voyage, I'll be able to spend more time with you" he says but soon his smile turns to a frown "I'm afraid I have some bad news how ever"

Quinty felt a bit akward to be sitting there, listening to Clockworks father tell him such awefull news. But still, she couldn't help but mumble "damn cities, they're not good for anything."

 

She felt bad for Clockwork too, family is importand, you don't want them to be sick, especially not if it can be cured so easily with some fresh air.

Clockwork sighs "Well I..I was thinking taking a vacation near the sea at some time, mother can come along" he says then looks to Quinty "I agree, I'm almost inclined to shut up shop and move somewhere where there is some fresh air to breathe" he says then looks to his father "I'll look after mother, don't worry" he says as his father stands up and hugs him.

 

"Thank you son I knew I could rely on you to help your mother while I'm away, well my meeting awaits" he says as he pats his son on the head and then leaves.

 

Clockwork sighs "Looks like my plans are being brought out closer than I thought, I knew mother was struggling, but I didn't know she was ill"

If I ask them nicely I'm sure they'll want to take care of your mom and then you can relax too without having to take care of her constantly." she said with a smile
