He smiles and nods "Well if you need somewhere to stay while you're here, I have a spare room back at my workshop" he suggests "It's not much but it's probably better than the motels here?" he says with a soft smile "Plus, it's free" he says and looks out the window "It's the least I could do, after all, It's what friends do, isn't it?" he asks with a slight chuckle

Quinty smiled thankfully "I would appreciate that, I haven't found a place to stay at yet " she brushed her hair behind her ear, the braid with the pearl at the end became vissible and she started to play with it "And I would love to see the clocks and other things you make" she added with a chuckle.

Clockwork smiles but blushes as he saw just how cute and pretty she was "Any time" he says and nods, he then lifts up his book to try and hide his blush. "I'd be more than happy to show you around my workshop once the rain slow down a little and we can actually make it there before I rust" he says with a chuckle and sighs softly then shakes his head and puts his book back in his bag and finishes his meal "So, do you have any hobbies aside from surfing and pearl diving?"

Clockwork smiles but blushes as he saw just how cute and pretty she was "Any time" he says and nods, he then lifts up his book to try and hide his blush. "I'd be more than happy to show you around my workshop once the rain slow down a little and we can actually make it there before I rust" he says with a chuckle and sighs softly then shakes his head and puts his book back in his bag and finishes his meal "So, do you have any hobbies aside from surfing and pearl diving?"

Quinty had noticed his blushing by now but decided not to say anything about it, she didn't want to make it akward for him. "My hobbies?" she said "not much, I spend most of my time out on the beach and there I'm either surfing or swiming. Occasionally I like to make a trip with my boat, I'll sail along the shore and by the time it gets dark I go on land and make a fire and stay there for the night. It's fun to do." she says. "But if I'm not out on the water, if it's storming or too cold, I like reading or cooking, and playing guitar"

"Sounds nice, I play the violin myself, as for swimming well.." he chuckles "you know, these hunks of metal kind of ruin that, but maybe there's a spell that will make it so they don't make me sink", then maybe I could go for a swim" he says and closes his eyes, his mechanical one looking like a camera shutter and sounding like it too. He then uses his ears to listen to the rain "Well, it sounds like the rain is slowing down, so we should be able to make it to the workshop now, oh and don't worry about the left overs, we can get the rest to go"

Quinty chuckled "well, even if you can't swim, then you could use one of my boats. not my sail boad though, but maybe I'd let you touch the others" she said with a wink. then she looked outside, it had indeed started raining less. "sounds good, I don't think there will be a lot more buyers today anyway." she said.

Quinty chuckled when he offered her his arm "it's okay, very elegant of you" she said and held it. The metal felt cold underneeth her fingers but she wasn't scared of it as she'd imagine some people would be. "I like to read too, not those kinda books but more adventure kind. But they have romance too sometimes" she said to make it a bit less akward.

Quinty didn't like the smell here, it was disgusting. She already wished she was back home. What even was she doing right now? She was walking arm in arm with some kind of strange guy she had just met. This was crazy! She shouldn't do this, what if he wasn't as nice as he seemed to be? Her parents had always warned her not to come with strangers and she was doing just that right now. Suddenly she stopped "I... Ehm... Think I should go back to selling my pearls actually" she said.

Clockwork frowned but nodded as he let go "If that is what you wish, but my workshop and home is always open to you should you wish to visit" he says "It's pretty hard to miss, it's the shop with the big pocketwatch sign out the front"  He smiles and then gently kisses her cheek before looking away "Just knock and announce yourself before entering should you want to see me again" he says as he begins to turn and walk away. He held the box with the black pearls in his shoulder bag and walked at a somber and slow pace.

oh men, this was crazy. she felt so bad! but... why? she shouldn't go home with strangers but, he didn't feel like a stranger. she sighed and folowed him "wait, sorry, I didn't mean it like that. I-I don't know what's wrong with me" she said as she folowed him. "I really don't know what it is, but I wanna see your workplace" she walked next to him again and smiled.

"But I can reassure you, my intentions towards you are pure, I mean..I wouldn't even know how to take advantage of a mare, and even if I did know, I'd never use that knowledge, I wasn't raised that way" he says then looks around "Would you mind if we stopped over at my mother's first?"

Clockwork chuckles "I don't doubt you on that miss, and it's okay, mother would want to meet my first ever friend" he says as they turn a corner to the opposite way of going to his shop and come across a small house "well, here we are" he says as he gently knocks on the door. 

 

"Cooming!~" calls out a rather melodic voice and the mare then opens the door, but what Quinty saw could bring tears to anyone's eyes. The mare was a very lovely and beautiful unicorn mare with a cream coat, long flowing light blue mane and tail, and despite looking like she was only in her late thirties to early forties, she was in a wheelchair with two metallic legs much like Clockwork's arm. "Clockwork sweetie, your father said you'd be visiting" she says as she wheels her chair aside to let them in "and who is your lovely friend dear?"

 

Clockwork smiles as he leans in to hug his mother and kisses her cheek "This is Quinty mother, her parents sometimes takes in sick ponies to their home so that they can rest and recover, she has offered to talk to them about letting you stay with them"

 

The mare smiles but then covers a cough "T-that's very kind of you dear heart, I g-guess that my husband told you the news?"

Clockwork nods "Yes but..why didn't you come to me?"

"I-I didn't want to disturb your projects" she says

 

and Clock hugs her again "Oh mother, I'll always make time for you, family is important"

Quinty stood a bit akwardly, she didn't really know how to react. Normally she would make a witty comment but that seemed innapropriate at this moment. When clockwork and his mother were done hugging quinty stepped forward to greet the mare "I'm Quinty waves, I live by the sea. Your husband told us that you need some fresh air to recover so... There is enough of that there." she said "and my parents are lovely people, the path to the beach might be difficult for you with your weelchair but I'm sure my dad can figure out something."

I grew up without knowing anyone except my parents so I'm not very social either" she says "and being social isn't importand either, as long as someone is nice I'm fine with being around them and your son has proved that he is quite a nicel colt."

Quinty looks at Clockwork, he is quite a gentlecolt indeed. "I'm sure it's not all from his father, I bet his kindness comes from you" she says quietly to melody "you did a good job raising him". then she says a bit louder "and indeed, I'm eagar to see his workplace, I'm very curious to all the clocks he's making, I bet they're wonderfull!" she smiles to Clockwork.

Melody smiles "Thank you dear, I've done my best what with his father being absent" she says and then pats her arm gently as Clockwork walks over to her.

 

"Mother, you should come to the workshop before we get you to Quinty's parents' house, I'll make sure you can actually use your legs, I have a feeling whoever did your current legs didn't know what they were doing" he says with a slight growl then shakes his head as he offers his arm to Quinty again "Come on then, I have many things to show you"

"I really can't wait to see it" she says, her eyes sparkling of exitement, Quinty wasn't good with dealing with her curiosity, it build up and she was getting more and more exited. "for how long have you been making clocks, actually?" she then asked Clockwork

He smiles as they wave to his mother and then walk towards his shop "Well, lets see.. I got my cutie mark when I was about five after I accidentally broke father's favorite clock and managed to fix it really well" he says "I then quit school when I was about ten years old and my only friend left because her mother wanted her in a better school, and then did homeschooling until I was thirteen and then started up my workshop, so...I'd say about nine years now"

"wow" quinty said, she was truely impressed by his long experience "you must be the best clockmaker in all of equestria with that much experience!" she continued, she was, for her being, really generous with all the compliments, normally she was really reserved with giving them but she felt as if Clockwork deserved them more as anypony else she had ever met.

Quinty chuckles and pokes him "I'm not talking about all the other ponies, silly, sure, they do good work but they don't make clocks, I'm pretty sure that even the princesses wouldn't be able to make clocks as well as you" she says with a smile. "and do ponies really just demand it from you? that's a bit unthankfull, you do great work and they don't even thank you? what kind of buckers are they?!" she felt that she was getting a bit angry at them, for little to no reason but still.
