He smiles "Well, they do sort of thank me, but I can tell it's not completely genuine and you know how I said you saved my hide by selling me those black pearls? Well, the commission came from Princess Luna, it is a bit extravagant yes, but this is the princess of the night we are talking about" he says, gently patting her arm to try and calm her down, He knew what it was like to deal with his own anger, he wasn't the best at controlling it and hoped she'd never have to see it. He sighs softly and closes his eyes, his mechanical eye making a whirring and clicking noise.

Quinties eyes got big "princess luna as in THE princes ls luna?! Wow, that is really cool! That she asked you to make something for her, you surely must be the best clockmaker in all equestria!" quinty said exited, the anger she had felt before had gone away and made way for exitement again.

He chuckles "Yeah,  the one and only, but as I said, I'm one of the best, but certainly not the top best" he says with a modest blush as they reach his modest store called the "Golden Gear" and opens the door "Welcome to my humble workshop and home, please feel free to look around" he says "I'll just go make sure the guest room is tidy"

Quinty walked through the doors of the store, she didn't mind being left alone here, there was so much to see! with a curious look on her face she walked around, looking at the clocks, listening to the tick-tocking sound they made, sometimes she stretched her hand because she wanted to feel the woodwork of one of the clocks, or just touch it to make sure it was all real, they all looked so beautifull.

Quinty walked to the biggest clock in the shop and looked at it with a smile, then she let her fingers run over the woodword, it felt so smooth and soft. "How did you even make this?" she wondered amazed "and how long did it take you?". Then she walked over to clockwork who was looking in his big book again, curiously she looked over his shoulder.

"I think this will work perfectly, now..I just need to figure out the kind of chime that Luna would like"

"Five years?!" Quinty said surprised as she leaned on the counter with her ellbows "how did you even have the patience for that? I would have given it up quite quickly" she sighed and wished she had a bit more patience sometimes, that would be so helpfull. "Can I see your current project, I'd love to know what my precious pearls will be used for"

"This is where I keep the projects I am currently working on, the really high profile ones" he says as he then leads her to a large something that is covered by a sparkly blue velvet sheet. "Ready?" he asks as he gently slides the sheet off and there, underneath the sheet stood a beautiful rose wood grandfather clock, there were many intricate deigns of moons and stars. Clockwork  smiles "Certainly" he says as he stands up and leads her to the back of the shop. "This is where I keep the projects I am currently working on, the really high profile ones" he says as he then leads her to a large something that is covered by a sparkly blue velvet sheet. Quinty was struck with awe when Clockwork reveiled his the clock he was working on, it was beautifull and so detailed. She walked around it, looking at it from all sides, and then put her hand on her hip "not bad ad all" she said in a sassy way, but then she bursted out laughing "just kidding, it looks amazing! And so detailed!" she praised him and took a closer look at the designs. So small and delicate and so beautifull! "But how are you planning on carving the pearls?" she asked him.

He smiles as he looks at his book "It's a very difficult process but it's a mixture of engraving and magic, the pearls being carved aren't part of the commission, it's just a small gift to her" he says as he closes his eyes and sighs softly "Well I better show you your room, come on then" he says as he takes her hand and starts to lead her up the stairs to where she would be sleeping.

 

When they get to the room, he opens the door, it was a pretty simple room with a single bed, carpet, a desk, pretty much just the bare necessities. "The lift of a hermit I guess, anyway, bathroom is the 2nd room to the left, kitchen is downstairs, and I'll probably be up all night should you need me"

He smiles as he looks at his book "It's a very difficult process but it's a mixture of engraving and magic, the pearls being carved aren't part of the commission, it's just a small gift to her" he says as he closes his eyes and sighs softly "Well I better show you your room, come on then" he says as he takes her hand and starts to lead her up the stairs to where she would be sleeping.

 

When they get to the room, he opens the door, it was a pretty simple room with a single bed, carpet, a desk, pretty much just the bare necessities. "Okay then" quinty said as an agreement to showing her where she would be staying, but it wasn't needed since he had already taken her hand and took her upstairs.

 

Quinty folowed clockwork upstairs and put down her back pack, now she felt how heavy it actually was. "Thank you" she said while stretching her shoulders, they hurt a bit but not more as after a day of intensive surfing training.

Clockwork smiles as he then quickly stands behind her and begins to massage her shoulders "Here let me" he says with a soft purr to his voice "One of the benefits of being part bionic,  is I've been told I give excellent massages." he says and closes his eyes, resisting the urge to hold her close to himself.

Quinty lookes up and turns around "F-flirting?" she stutters. because she's really not used to being social she had absolutely no idea that that's what he was doing and she had no idea how to react. she looks clockwork in his eyes and then looks away, brushing her hair behind her ear. "I... ehm... really don't know what to say to that" she says quietly.

He lets go of her "Sorry, it's just..I don't know why, but with you around, I feel like..I can be myself, I don't have to..pretend to be someone I'm really not" he says as he looks at her and smiles "forgive me for being too forward, I just..well truth be told, I like you, and ever since I lost both my older sister and best friend when I was little, I found it hard to get to like anyone, let alone get close to them"

He looks at the time and stretches "well, its rather late. So if you want to sleep, I'll leave you be" he says with a smile before getting up to leave the room "but should you want or need me, i will be in the workshop. Don't be afraid to come down and ask for anything"

Quinty nodded silently, part of her wanted him to stay but on the other side, being alone didn't sound too bad, maybe she could sort out her thoughts then. "okay then" she simply said and sat down on the bed and watched Clockwork go back downstairs. when he was gone she layed down on the bed and stared at the ceiling. she let the whole day play through her head again and thought about everything that had happened.

Clockwork tried to get his mind off of the beautiful mare that was in his room by continuing with his assignment for Princess Luna but the moment he got to engraving the pearls, he could feel tears well up in his eyes "there's no way she'd fall for a fool like me, ah well, life goes on" he tries to lie to himself. About two hours later, he was basically slumped over his workbench in a half asleep/half awake state.

After a few hours of thinking and trying to fall asleep but failing every time, she got up and decided to go downstairs to see if Clockwork was still awake. She walked down the stairs quietly but then she saw him half sleeping over the counter, she chuckled and smiled, he had something adorable over him and she couldn't help but blush. she remained standing at the base of the stairs, trying to decide if she should wake him or go back upstairs.

He had a small plush kitten that he had since he was a little colt, and by the looks of it, it was very well loved and looked after, though only parts of it could be seen as he was snuggling it and absent-mindedly starts to stroke it in his sleep.

Quinties lips curled up in a little smile, she couldn't help it. She didn't know if he had said the words he had just said to the little plush kitten that he was holding or to her but it didn't matter. "I love you too" she whispered, still smiling, then she turned around and walked back up the stairs. Her heart was pounding and she felt strange, but, a good kind of strange. She layed down on the bed and closed her eyes and soon she had fallen asleep.

Little did they know that Luna was watching over Clockwork from the shadows. Once they both finally managed to fully go to sleep, Luna emerges from the dark and uses her magic to fluff up a pillow and gently place it under Clockwork's head, then drapes a blanket over him and adjusts the kitten in his arms a little. She kisses his forehead and then leaves a hand written note "Try not to over exert yourself on my account dear, the clock can wait but your health is important..also try to find a more comfortable place to sleep and not your work bench.

 

Yours, Luna" she leaves it next to him before disappearing into the night again.

The next morning, he woke to find the pillow under his head and the blanket over him, thinking it might have been Quinty at first, he was going to go thank her, but he then notices the letter and smiles even more. "Only because of father" he whispers to himself as he gets back to work.
