ChocolateCrane 156 January 25, 2017 Share January 25, 2017 Dragon Lord Thorn addresses the dragons he summoned as "Dragons of Equestria". Yet, several scenes in the exact same episode seem to disprove this, (see image). I am well aware of the official map of Equestria as seen here:http://www.equestriadaily.com/2015/10/official-map-of-equestria-updated.html^Judging by that the "Dragon Lands" should be located in the bottom right-hand corner.I went back and watched Dragon Quest in order to potentially sort out the contradicting statements I found in Gauntlet of Fire, but that proved even more confusing (see left hand side of image).Dragons migrate TO the Dragon Lands very rarely. Dragons are summoned by the Dragon Lord TO the Dragon Lands on occasion. Where are they migrating FROM? This is the question I seek an answer to.If we take into consideration what transpired in the S1 episode Dragonshy, we can deduct that it is not normal for full-grown dragons to take up residence in Equestria as a whole. In Owl's Well That Ends Well, Spike stumbles upon a full grown dragon's cave. Judging by the facts that Spike was walking on foot, and not for very long, we can clearly assume it was relatively nearby Ponyville.^This seems to imply that Dragons are generally not welcome in Equestria, yet some manage to ignore these unspoken rules to varying degrees of success. Now once again, the question is where are these dragons supposed to reside, if Equestria is off limits? Judging by their flight patterns during migration, and how they tend to stay in a straight line until they reach their destination, it's likely they come from somewhere around the Northwest of Equestria. They pass right over Ponyville, so you can use that to determine their trajectory. ^Are we simply supposed to believe that Twilight Sparkle could teleport herself, 2 other ponies and Spike HALFWAY ACROSS EQUESTRIA!? Remember, this is pre-winged princess Twilight we are talking about. Hell, if you look at the season 4 finale, when Twilight absorbed all three Alicorns' magical powers, that was the only other time we have seen her teleport long distances (which was both out of her control and not nearly as far as this instance in Dragon Quest). There is no way this is possible, right? In the image you can see that Twilight is able to teleport all of them from a spot which should be very close to the bottom right of the Equestrian map ALLLL the way to immediately outside of the Everfree forest. Hax, much? Or just blame Merriwether Williams?

ChocolateCrane 156 February 7, 2017 Author Share February 7, 2017 (edited) Well, to paraphrase an old joke about lions Q Where do dragons live? A Anywhere they WANT to live. Who is going to tell them they can't? Celestia contacted Twilight and instructed her to gather her friends and convince the dragon to leave Equestria otherwise "Equestria would be covered in smoke for the next 100 years". If merely a dragon sleeping nearby is enough to negatively influence Equestria to such an extreme extent, it is clear as day Celestia would not allow such things to pass. Again, I refer you to this snippet I linked above: Edited February 7, 2017 by ChocolateCrane
sweetolebob18 728 February 7, 2017 Share February 7, 2017 (edited) So, your answer to "who would tell a dragon they can't" is "Celestia would send the Mane 6 to tell the dragon to move" I would point out that when Spike ran away (was that Owl's Well ?, it's been awhile & ICR), he encountered a dragon living fairly near Ponyville. In Dragonshy, they were only sent to roust out that dragon because he was smoking in bed & being a nuisance. At least, nobody dared say to his face "you're not allowed here so get out". It was all "your smoke is going to kill us" It's hard to say for sure but IMO dragons are allowed to lair where they want as long as it doesn't bother nearby ponies Edited February 7, 2017 by sweetolebob18
Lnx1ynight16 595 September 18 Share September 18 I never understood why Torch said "Dragons of Equestria" I never thought of the Dragon Lands being apart of Equestria, but rather it's own country like most people... ._.
