I was watching a Tangled version of this same style idea on Disney. Pretty famous guy who is popular but doesn't like the princess.

Princess becomes obsessed. It had a different outcome where both characters agreed to not be friends.

We get an episode where Pinkie Pie gets a shot at making a new friend. To counter balance Pinkie's zany approach, this new pony is a pro who can match Pinkie Pie's style.

Pinkie fails in the end to befriend her and moves on.

I wouldn't suggest anything like that. Pinkie just wasted her episode without any other Mane Six pony in Rock Solid Friendship this season.

And seeing as though she's already had multiple episodes with Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and now Rarity, she could use some roles with Fluttershy, ones much less tomboyish than Buckball Season.
