Ponies watching horse racing?

What do you think the ponies reaction to horse racing would be?

Would some ponies like to be race horses themselves with a human on their back?

Would it get quite awkward if the pony falls in love with the jockey on their back?

I have a feeling that many ponies would find horse racing to be pretty idiotic. "Wait, so the human slaps the horse and the horse does pretty much hall the work? What's the point????" Not the mention the little issue of horses being put down due to injuries in these pointless races. As such, I doubt the ponies would even bother with it. They already have races of their own, they don't need the extra weight and burden of some human.

Sounds a bit like bad fanfic fuel. Nobody would use a pony in a horse race though. Ponies are a different type of equine from horses, believe it or not. Ponies would probably like taking part in horse races that are just horses with no riders though.
