We all know that wall eyed pony, Derpy. It used to be an animation error, but Hasbro decided to make it canon. So, where did that derp eyes come from? I need more explanation for that. So, perhaps any of you here has the reference or story for that? I'm just curious.

You answered the question yourself, it was an animation error. There is no canonical explanation for why, but it's a real condition called strabismus. A couple episodes with flashbacks suggested she developed this condition over time.
