There are two handles to a bali-song. One is called the safe handle, and it's connected to the blunt side of the blade. Generally, when flipping, this is the handle you hold. The other handle is the bite handle, which is connected to the edge of the blade. Only a select few tricks require that you hold this handle. Sometimes, however, I just make a mistake and grab the bite handle instead of the safe handle, and consequently slice myself.
