Hello, My name is Lobstaarr.

Nothing to read here.

Nothing to read here.

... Now that you know everything about me, I'd like to ask you guys something -- hopefully, you can provide an answer! ^_^

Currently, it's summer time. I have more opportunity to do stuff now. I thought I might try my hand at some music, but then I realized something.

I can't play any instruments and I don't have money to buy music-making programs XD

So, I was hoping... (If it's not too much of a hassle  ) That you guys could recommend any freeware/programs that could get a guy like me started in the right direction.

I'm open to all kinds of music -- cept' fer country ;).

Also, emphasis on free. I have no money :3 (I don't care too much if the program sucks -- if it works, it's fine XD)

Thanks!

Sorry if this thread was already created -- if that's the case, I welcome all mods to do their thing!

What i I was a cop?!

Then you would be a cop sitting in your house looking at a computer and I would still be a kid with a pirated version of a program. Both in a forum for ponies.

If you are into chiptune/8-bit stuff, I suggest getting a tracker program. :) Those are generally free!

Madtracker

or my personal favorite because I am a huge retro gaming fan:

Famitracker

But I do highly agree with Shankveld, piratebay is your best bet. xD buuut, once you do get your program of choice (Reason, Sonar, Pro Tools, Logic [macs only], or Reaper], you can get vsts! I know an excellent website with free and amazing vsts! Here it is:

myvst

here is an AMAZING free piano vst:

CVpiano

Oh, btw, I heard Reaper is free, but you just get a nag screen if you don't purchase it. I personally never used Reaper, but maybe you should check on that. I personally love Fl Studio and Sonar! That's because you get to use vsts and there are loads of free vsts. :3

You CAN'T use vsts for Reason, unfortunately, but it does come standard with some really nice sounds...but if you want more nice sounds, you gotta buy "refills" which...can be pretty pricey. I'm starting to talk a lot. xD Feel free to ask me any question. :)

Everyone hide, the cyber police are after us. We done goofed.

Anyways, FLStudio is the most common starting one and is usually used as a stepping stone to Ableton Live. There's an abundance of tutorials on how to create all sorts of music on it including one made by our forum member, PhonyBrony (who also produces outstanding music). Just send him a PM or look him up on YouTube for it.

If you're absolutely against pirating, then here's the way to do it:

One program I would recommend would be Soundation. It's free, web based, accounts come with web lockers, and you can do a lot with it. You do need to play around with it. I'm just starting to use it, and I like it.

Thanks for all of the suggestions guys! If there are any more great-but-hidden programs, feel free to let myself and others know! XD
