Do you think the pony's being established is keeping them from aging?

Just something I was thinking about with reagards to the cutie mark crusaders and the recently added (for a given value of recent) adolescent pony body shapes. Given how established the look of the primary and secondary characters is do you think its possible they are being kept that way deliberately rather than being redrawn in an older body shape e.g. adolescent for the CMC's and fully grown for the others? We've seen the CMC's especially are getting older in how they act (different tastes, being actively sought out by adults for help in dealing with their childs cutie marks, actually stopping and reconsidering their initial wacky idea) but their body look is still the largely same as it was when they were introduced. Maybe a little bigger but not the teenage form we've seen in others.

Well, if the CMCs were to grow, it would be weird to give them a giant growth spurt in one season. The animators would have to alter their bodies gradually, and that could be difficult. In any event, you can just compare the way they think and act to see that they've aged. You don't necessarily need to have them change bodies all of a sudden.

Oh I know and that's my point their look has been established over years of episodes, toys, comics, etc so now they can't age them physically because either they suddenly go from one look to another different one overnight (or with a "my how you've grown since I last saw you" episode) which is going to raise questions and possibly complaints "They looked better before" or they need to animate a slow change making them a bit bigger/different every episode/s which would as you said be difficult and more work than they'd feel is worth it given the likely end coming up. Essentially unless they do a future episode/epilogue they're locked into their current appearance due to the difficulty in changing it at this stage. Instead they have to change their behaviour to show an older more mature pony at least in their outlook.

I believe that they have longer lifespans than humans, because i found out the average lifespan for humans is increasing because of breakthroughs in medical technology, and assuming ponies have that, plus magic, it makes sense to me. Im 56, and they would still look the exact same.
