ManaMinori 4,145 October 5, 2018 Share October 5, 2018 (edited) After listening to the very hardcore song "Solidarity", by PrinceWhatever, it got me thinking about g5 and what's to come in the future. Not so much with the animated series (because the reboot of the toyline is what matters), but what creative content might come along with a reboot and new blood discovering the g5 fandom and feeling inspired by it? As FiM's chapter ends and a new one begins, will new fans hopping onto g5 look back on g4 and see the sheer amount of content that this gen produced, and feel inspired to try their hand at creating things for whatever new gens might come, or overwhelmed that they couldn't live up to what legacy that g4 made, with its fans? (personally, I'm looking forward to what new fan-created content that could come with any new gen, along with what friendships will be forged between fans of this gen and the next, and those exclusively to the next gen.) Should we, as g4 fans, find these future gen fans and help them along, encouraging them to shape fan content of their gen, even though we might not be on the bandwagon ourselves? I've seen many people claim to drop off the ride if g4 ends, but how will we, as a fandom pf g4 impact those of the next generation? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQhWAnb6oFs Edited October 5, 2018 by Nightmare Muffin Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub
SharpWit 2,686 October 5, 2018 Share October 5, 2018 Some will surely leave out of spite or a lack of continued interest. It's happened a handful of times within our fandom. If they do a decent job with G5 then I'm sure many will transfer over while keeping the love for G4 alive. Something tells me that they'll largely use G4 to establish G5 unless the goal is to return back to the original target demographic.
BornAgainBrony 2,398 October 5, 2018 Share October 5, 2018 I don't know what's going to happen with G5 really. There's SO many variables. And lots of rumors. One thing I heard suggested that G5 was going to be targeted at an older audience, and might be more like a superhero action show. While it could be entertaining, what will happen to the lessons? I don't know if it's going to be a thing that will change and save lives like G4 did. I fear something like the transition from Roddenberry's Star Trek to J.J. Abrams's reboot. Both have infinite entertainment value, but only one has inspired countless people to get involved in the sciences and have a vision of what a unified world could be like. I hope I'm wrong about that, but we'll see. I've never watched any other show where I feel so much empathy for the characters; where I love them just as much as IRL friends, and get yanked into all sorts of emotional roller coasters when things happen. Everything suggests a very bizarre deviation from the near-flawless formula that Lauren created, and I have doubts that a new generation of fans coming on board with G5 will be anything like the Bronies. Chances are, it'll end up being "just another cartoon." On a lighter note.... I never thought I'd find a better rallying cry than "The Magic Inside." I stand corrected.SWEET CELESTIA, that bucking ROCKED!!! EQUESTRIA FOREVER! I'm seriously making a youtube account just to thank PW for creating that. It's like every great hollywood motivational speech ever was shoved into a blender, pressed into sheet music, and handed to the Rainbooms.

We've had fans drop off the fandom like flies since Twilight got her wings. And I know the transition to g4 to g5 will more than likely depend on demographic and content of the series (since that's what people care more for than the toyline, apparently), but will YOU give it a change, at least out of courtesy? Yeah couldn't care less about the toys to be honest. Might get myself a large map printed out someday and it'd be cool to have a 6 inch brass figurine of nightmare moon. I'll definately give the next generation a try. I was skeptical of this show back in 2012ish but my friends told me to watch 3 episodes and I haven't looked back yet even though they've well moved on.
