general Slice of life vs bigger than life

To me there a two major types of stories, ones that include comedy, drama, romance, and ones that include action, adventure, fantasy, sci fi, etc. What is it that you like about each of them? Which do you prefer? How do you like stories that are one type and have elements of the other?

I like comedy/romance/drama because they focus more specifically on good character development. I enjoy action/sci-fi/fantasy for the strange new worlds they open up and the pace of storytelling often associated with adventure stories. If either of these categories can overlap into another, so much the better. I like slice of life, but when that slice of life can suddenly turn into something unexpected with the introduction of a fantasy element, it takes me away into the possibilities that lie just beyond the everyday routine of life. That's what good storytelling is all about, and something I particularly enjoy. It infuses the ordinary with the hope of the extraordinary and sweeps us away into a wonderful new world.

Good stories I think provide an entertaining environment with deep characterization and setting behind everything. I doesn't matter if it's slice of life or something else I think what matters is the depth of the world and the characters and how the show approaches those depths to make it interesting
