Quality Issues

Hey there. I'm trying to make a proper looking video design for my new youtube channel. But when I put the finished design in Sony Vegas the background gets all fucked up, and it's still fucked up when I render the video.

The resolution is 1920 by 1080 on both video and picture.

Here's an example:

It looks fine to me, bro. I really don't think you have anything to worry about. I mean, it is just for music, right? I really don't think a picture changes anything if it's just that and music. Heck, all of my videos that are like that probably have worse quality than that, and look at me, I gots over 100 subs. You're just stressing.

It's ironic how I fall just to get back up again...

Check the video then. It's even worse than that.

I do know that it's just for music, but I still want my videos to look proper.

I assume you're referring to the radial gradient artifacts.

Unfortunately that's an unavoidable thing that occurs with some video compression codecs, and the solution would either mean the filesize would be drastically increased (following repeated video renderings to test and re-test different file options) or even worse quality.

The further reduction in quality on youtube is because regardless of what format you upload to Youtube, it's re-converted into an FLV for their online player anyways.

Fortunately, such artifacts compared to other quality issues are actually remarkably small.

Try experimenting with different quality settings for the MP4 video format, and if not that, use HD settings with WMV.

Sometimes the video quality improves if the video becomes popular, because the data access on the Youtube master archive gets a higher priority than lower popularity videos.

On 360p in fullscreen it's a bit pixely, but it looks absolutely fine on HD. Seriously, it's really not that big of a deal.

Meh... it doesn't look good to me. But does it always do this when using dark gradients ?

Because it happens on every gradient, our eyes just pick up the darkness contrast better.

Meh... gonna use a brighter gradient then, like in my electro house video. I can't live with it when it's this much...

Yah, the banding is so irritating, I usually just switch to solid colors. They usually end up looking better anyways :]
