It is with a heavy heart I must inform you all that Johnny 'Z' Zazula, co-founder of Megaforce records alongside his late wife Marsha, has just passed away, age 69. It is thanks to his contributions and support for his wife's effort to import music from Europe's burgeoning metal scene that he was inspired to take a chance and publish the first record by a young band from San Francisco named Metallica. Megaforce would help kickstart the Thrash metal movement across the U.S. and help shine a spotlight on artists like Anthrax, Overkill, Kings X and Ace Frehley. 

Rest in power, Johnny Z. May your legacy live on.
