 Hello-

Newly sign up here; actually, this is the only reason why I am on the site as I had a hard time finding people who are in the know-how of prototypes and manufacturing errors of MLP merchandise. Reddit didn't helped much, and I even wrote to MLP merch wiki to ask them and waiting their response.

In the main time, pretty much exactly what it says it on the title, I found an Applejack brushable that appears to be light yellow-ish white in a local second hand shopping site and ordered it, and when it arrived on my hand photos stay corrected- It really was very light in color compared to the orange Applejack supposed to be, as the closest color you can say it is, is yellow. (Example photos provided.) If I have to be exact, I would call it "Pearl colored".

 Some people on reddit insisted it must be because of sun damage, or even being put thru a UV chamber- But I found both theories very unlikely, as the toy is colored very evenly; as if this is the color of the plastic that was put into the mold.

 It's very obviously one of the "Explore Equestria Pearlized Singles Wave 3 G4 Brushables" Applejack toys, recognizable by the shininess and glitter that was mixed into the core material.

 Another observation about the oddities with the colors is that fact that apples on the cutie mark are orange instead of red, but that is a bit hard to tell from the photos because of the gloss. If you ask me, the color diffidence of both the mold and the cutie mark may be caused by the same reason, like they forgotten or willingly not put red dye in the material or they simply run out of it. But the weird thing is that her eyes seem to be in the correct shade of green and the code on the hoof seem to not have a color alteration, which has red or red-ish pink in it.

 So my question is; is this a prototype or a manufacturing error?

 Other ponies on the example photos as color reference to show it is not editing or lighting.

 I think so too! She is a special one with no match, I would like to imagine her as a "shiny" of some sorts.

 Thanks for the warm welcome! I hope I come across people who are into the design and manufacturing side of things like me. I want to get some educated guesses to why is the way she is as I am really invested in the matter. I always wished I had a one in a kind prototype or ponies with errors of some sorts, and were even a little jealous of people who have those and I thought my chances were pretty much dead after gen 4 ended (I haven't seen those surface for gen 5 so far). Coming across Pearl Applejack was a huge shock, so I want to confirm what I have in my hand.

It's pretty strange. It could just be age, but the colors like the eyes don't seem faded enough, nor the fact is G4 even really that old. Of course I don't know when those particular toys were manufactured so I can't say for sure. It could be well worn, or it could be a manufacturing error, which could be the case as it wouldn't be the first time official toys have given wrong colors to characters. Whatever the cae, she's still quite adocrable.

 The Merch Databases states the release date as 2016 for the wave AJ came out in. (And if you search the site, the last one of the wave was discovered on August 22), making so that the line is around 8 years old at olderst. Not sure if that's enough time but I also have another one from the set and her colors are just fine, as seen in the photos. If she was exposed to something that would change her color than the change would be uneven around different parts of her body. But did you know you can look for the date a brushable is manufactured looking the codes under her hoof? The database I have been relying even has a niffy tool that helps you with that! Tho, I may be stupid about this cause I can't really figure with one of the numbers I should go for as there are multiple in there and none of them seem to fit the format perfectly. But this is the exact reason why I took a photo of the hoof codes; for people who know what to look for.

But still, I strongly believe she really came out of the line looking like this.

i never seen anything like it. definitely isnt a uv issue, but i could see the red dye part being the reason.. she looks reaaalllyy cool

 I really can't believe I was handed it for a relatively cheap price! And the second hand MLP toy market here really isn't stale at all, so it was really lucky to be able spot it.
