Little late for the nightly question, my bad, got home late and started to play Far Cry 5, if you could care less about these dumb questions, disregard this. Anyway, how many Half-Life enjoyers we got in here, and why do you enjoy ye olde masterpiece from 1998?

I only played a bit of Half-Life 2 way back in the day, but both that game and the original have always been games I've wanted to play in full, I even have them both on my Steam Deck.

half-Life is my number one favorite game. It was one of the first games I played and I don't know how often I played Half-Life, Opposing Force and Blue Shift. I honestly liked HL1 more than HL2. Yeah, it has the weaker graphics, but it gave me this special emotions and feelings I did not really get in HL2. The only thing I did not liked was Xen and here mostly Gonarch's lair. But HL2 is still an amazing game. 

And yeah, I still hope that HL3 will be published someday.

Dude, same, I love HL1 over HL2 be for the gameplay and weapon variety, you ever think that the weapons selection for HL2 is kinda boring? I sure do. With HL1 the movement is much more fun, combat is much more fun, and honestly, the low quality graphics and sound makes it funnier. I liked Xen, one of my favorite parts. (Nihilanth sucks)

Yes, the weapon selection were much more diverse and had a lot of fun weapons like the gluon gun or the tau cannon. But I also prefer the variety of enemies. You had the xen aliens, the HECU and in OF the black-ops and the race x. And I liked all the fights we saw between those factions. For me personal, it felt for me that the diversity of enemies is much bigger in HL1 than in HL2 where you mostly have combines, Zombies and Antlions (Striders are still impressive). My favorite level is btw. Surface tension followed by on a rail. But most important for me is the nostalgic feeling I get from half-Life and ist look.

Gotta love those funny little Snarks, speaking of the weapons, you ever actually use the Hivehand? Cause ngl, I think the Hivehand is pretty useless. My favorites gotta go to Gonarch's Lair, "We've Got Hostiles, and of course, Surface Tension. Oh, and do you think HL2 coulda had more grenade types?

Snarks where likewise funny and annoying. I was also not so a Hive hand user. I mean, it is nice to have a weapon who have infinity ammo, but the damage was not really high. I liked the shock roach more. About the granades, well, although I never really used the laser mines and bombs (honetly, I mostly used the granades of the MP5) in HL1, yeah it was nice to have them.

It was really funny if you could combine all of the different grenades, planting tripmines, satchels, toss a few grenades out, made for a pretty cool firework show. The HECU must hate me.

The original Half-Life was, I think, both my first FPS and my first ever 3D game, so I've got a ton of nostalgia for it! Couldn't begin to guess the amount of time I've spent screwing around in Blue Shift and Opposing Force too over the years. Love 'em all!

Haven't touched HL2 though. Did grab it when it was free on Steam recently so I'm really running out of excuses for not playing it lol

Man just play it, it may not be as fun as the original Half-Life but it's pretty awesome.

Yes, I personally liked the Raven Holm part because it is so much different to the rest of the game. 

Say, qwertz6607, have you played Alyx? I have not played it since I have no VR headset (I am honestly not the biggest fan of these things).

Hi there @qwertz6607. As this is about a video game series, I'm moving this thread over to Media Discussion.

I like Half-Life. I played it a long time after it first came out, but the experience was very enjoyable. The overall atmosphere is great and I think that aspect still holds up by modern standards. I have not played HL2 or Opposing Force. I did play Blue Shift though, but I can't remember if I ever finished it or not.

Oh aight. The add-ons for HL are just as good as HL, you'll like 'em.

I don't have a VR headset, can't play Alyx. Ravenholm is definitely a favorite part as well.
