Final Fantasy 2 and 9 is the only good FF games

Objectively. Elitist take for sure.

 

But i can defend why i like FF2 mostly, and FF9 after that.

 

FF2 is good, since i like doing situps, and pushups, take shower, eat breakfast then grind. Its also good because its the only old school FF game that doesnt require "Benny Hill Theme" feel to it. Because the story feels something out of a epic proportions out of a NeverEnding Story novel to it. Its just cool, its epic, its fun. Oh and unlike the moral panic of the 80s around DnD being Satanic and such. This is the closest to what a Christian power story would look like. Since the final boss is about beating the shit out of satan. I guess if Christians were to meddle in RPGs it would replace "Magic Points" to "Miracle Points". But you cant win them all. This game... is absolutely amazing. I love it!

 

Now. FF9.

 

FF9 is good because Zidane is not a sullen character. Sure he has 11 or 15 min of depression, but he gets over it very quickly. Why i like him, the only slightly moping character is Garnet (But she isnt the main character so i dont care). And the writing for Eiko's lonliness is well written, i thought it was gonna be. Oh here we go again, its gonna be the whole "I cant do it, i am too weak" type of dialogue. But nope. She express her loneliness by asking tons of questions, legit subtle and well written writing.

 

Kickass game. FF9 is great!

I guess only nitpick is. Never understood why female soldiers of Alexandria looks like they are going to be in a Baywatch TV series (But thats a small nitpick). Amazing game. 100% recommend it!

Hard disagree, I like every mainline Final Fantasy game, including XIII and XV (yeah, I don't care that they're the weakest entries with the most obvious flaws, they're fun). Final Fantasy II is one of the most insanely overhated games ever though and while I don't think IX is as great as everyone says now, it's really cool how much more people have grown to appreciate it.

Yeah I personally disagree. I actually like quite a few of FF games. With X and Vll being my favorites.

Agreed. I actually enjoyed playing Xlll and XV despite their flaws.
