We've all seen the world of Nightmare Moore at the end of season 5. What do you think the life of ordinary ponies is like in this universe? Rarity said that the castle is closed to the public because the tapestries need to be changed. From this, we can conclude that the ponies come on an excursion to the castle of Nightmare Moon. Does it solve the pony's problems? Does she protect her subjects?

It's hard to say since we don't see a lot, but I think her being corrupted would make her a lot harsher than regular Luna. I think she'd still protect her people, as not doing so would make her a bad leader which would be a blow to her ego. I think the kingdom would be a complete dictatorship with very little personal freedom, but Nightmare Moon has enforced so much propaganda that her subjects don't pay it much mind and may even be more devoted to her because of it. It's possible a few ponies might stand against her, but I can't imagine that'd end well with Nightmare Moon's power and control. Either way, if she wanted to keep her kingdom's power and productivity she'd at least have to ensure the ponies had basic necessities so she'd have to help her subjects at least a little.

We see that all the plants are alive, despite the eternal night. This suggests that she still cares about her subjects.
