Arsenal Gear theme -

between being stripped naked, the 4th wall collapsing, and the droning choir. Just really makes everything freaky

Thanks for unlocking that memory:twilightsmile:, that part of MGS2 is mindblowing. those choirs still give me chills. And you also reminded me of the MGS3 intro theme, which gives me chills too.

Spoiler

Minecraft and Outer Wilds are also in this category. Nostalgia plays an important role, of course. :kindness:

Also, the work of Jeremy Soule. Skyrim and Oblivion have a wonderful soundtrack.

Spoiler

Lena Raine and Toby Fox both are the kind of people who have shown that some gifted talented individuals can compose masterpiece after masterpiece. They really blow my mind. Lots of their songs make me have chills.

Almost all of Celeste's OST: :kirin:

  • First steps
  • Resurrections
  • Awake
  • Scattered and lost
  • Golden feather mix (B-sides)
  • Mirror magic mix (B-sides)
Spoiler

What can I say about Undertale OST: :LunaMCM1:

  • Fallen Down
  • Ruins
  • Heartache
  • Waterfall
  • Memory
Spoiler

And many many more...  :eager:

Haunted house music from Super Mario 64 would be a good candidate for eerie music I think, at least for me anyway, last time I played that game was on Nintendo Switch on All Stars collection.

Like i know I already said nowhere to run. But I have to provide not just a video of it, but context. See. This plays only in the good ending. Scrap Baby starts to give a speech. But it’s interrupted by Henry Emily. Now. I want you to know what you are seeing as Henry voices over it. The scraps, Baby, Trap, and Molten Freddy, have been trapped into furnaces and are burning alive. Henry set the pizzeria you were working at. As a trap for them and lefty who contains the puppet who’s soul is his daughters. He wants to burn everything that had to do with that incident Alice abd everything down with it. Including the player and Henry.
tell me.  Does this music give you the chills along with knowing what’s happening with the music?

I could actually say the entire Amnesia franchise by the masters, and they are masters, at Frictional Games.

But, nothing will ever top the original, Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

They had already produced a bone rattlingly scary series for the time with Penumbra, but that was to prove to be only the dress rehearsal.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent doesn't get less scary or less messed up, no matter how many times you play it.

There is nothing I can compare being chased by a Grunt to, it is a singular experience.

Same goes for hiding from a Brute, so you don't get a meat cleaver through the forehead, underneath a pile of dead bodies.

And to remember and realize you'd actually tortured them to death, no computer game had gone quite as far as Amnesia did, and maybe no game has gone quite that far since, at least not to the same visceral degree.

I've sometimes wondered if playing it all those times didn't give me a touch of PTSD, and I don't say that to be flippant.

If you are of a delicate constitution, stay away.

The Amnesia games are terrifying to play, and put you into the shoes of; a morally monstrous explorer, a infanticidal industrialist, a murderous ghoul single mother and a half-crazed World War 1 warrior.

But, you're never equal to what's hunting you.

Whenever this music starts playing I get on edge, and if I hear a Space Pirate moving behind me, I definitely get spine chills

Spoiler

And then there's Metroid Prime's Second Phase

Spoiler

The Nancy Drew PC games have some really cool and eerie music (way too many to shout out, but here's a few)

I also took the time to make some suites out of the music in the files from Outlast 1 & 2, but I haven't uploaded them anywhere so I can't share those. They're some of the most spine-chilling music in my collection though for sure!
