Mafia Games! This is an awesome forum game, where the town tries to eliminate the small mafia, and the Mafia attempts to kill off the blind townies through trickery and their own skill. Oh, and their kill powers . Rules are, during the day, people send a PM to me as their vote for who should be lynched. The one with most votes, is executed! During the night, you can kill or protect others, if you are able to! Those without night powers, just hope you survive!

There will be narrations, where in the day the damned person will be killed and role revealed, and the night narrations will have kills and such, yes, but your night actions will leave clues as to who you are! The other players will attempt to decode these clues, to find out who killed whatshisname.

Roles are randomized, and will be sent to the players who have them only. Except the mafia, they gets to know who is in their team. The less people we get, the more roles I'll need to not include. It'll start with the independents, sadly. Oh, and did anyone else catch the "Meet the Pyro" video? That stuff is crazy, can't believe it...worth the wait! :D

Roles available for small round game;

SETTLERS:

Villager (Townie)

Farmer (Veteran)

Butcher (Paranoid)

Blacksmith (Vigilante)

Librarian (Detective)

Priest (Paramedic)

MOBS:

MONSTERS:

Skeleton-Necromancer (Godfather)

Creeper (Mad Hatter)

Zombie (Made Man)

INDEPENDENT:

Mysterious Stranger (Man in the Ball Hat)

Spider (Psychopath)

ELECTED/GRANTED POSITIONS

These are additional roles and powers that can be granted to some of the players, via election or random selection. Use them wisely.

Mayor

The Mayor is elected at the start of the game and has numerous roles. His special abilities are:

Seal of the Mayor: Increased vote count of 2 during lynching.

Did you ever know that you're my hero...: Both Mayor and Pardoner cannot be killed during the night while the bodyguard(s) remain alive. The Mayor will be informed of the identity of the bodyguard(s).

Let's celebrate!: The Mayor has the option of instantly lynching one player by the end of Day 1, once he's won the election. No voting takes place. Whoever the Mayor picks gets lynched. Take heed though if you plan to use this ability; since no clues have been given that could help point you at a criminal at that time.

Pardoner

As a check and balance to the Mayor, the Pardoner is the runner up to the Mayor. The Pardoner has the ability to cancel two lynches throughout the game. Pardoning both suspects during a double lynch will use up both powers but it's also possible to pardon one suspect while lynching the other. The Pardoner will have to notify me within one hour of lynch vote results before the lynch is actually posted. He is unable to pardon on the insta-lynch. The Pardoner will also receive protection from the bodyguards but will not be informed of their identities.

Bodyguard

Random Villagers will receive the role of bodyguard once the Mayor has been elected. The bodyguards and the Mayor will be informed of their identities. As long as the bodyguards are alive, the Mayor and the Pardoner cannot be killed via night hits. A bomb sent to a protected person will also be intercepted.

PRO SETTLER!

Lynch a bad guy during the day. Survive the night. Rinse and repeat. Players who are Pro Settler are in business to save Townston from corruption.

Blacksmith

Many years you have forged armor and weapons, now you use these tools to defend your new home. You are the law.

I am the law!: Each night you can target someone who you believe to be a monster. Be careful who you chose though, because you just might be taking out a friendly.

Priest

This new frontier is full of unholy monsters. When you watch over another player, your holy protection will keep them safe that night.

May the Lord Shield You: You have the ability to watch one other player during the night, which you must tell me about before the end of night. When a player is watched he cannot die unless the number of people attacking him outnumbers the number of people watching him or his night lives. In other words if two monsters attack a person being watched by one Priest, the person will die. The narrative will state that someone was attacked but saved and the narration will include a clue pointing out the identity of the attacker. It does not matter if the Priest chooses to watch someone before or after he is attacked; he will protect that person regardless. The Priest will also intercept bombs sent to a Settler during the night he is under watch and can discover planted bombs.

Farmer

You may be a farmer, but you’ve been conscripted into your lord’s army many times. You’ve survived multiple feuds of power and land, and by luck you managed to join these settlers. You've been around the block a few times and know how to escape an attack on your life. But for how long? The Farmer gets two lives, meaning two hits must be made on him before he dies. A Farmer can survive a bombing attempt if he still has both night lives but it will count as a hit attempt.

Librarian

The Librarian has studied all there is to know of monsters. He knows who is good and evil, on close examination. And so this bookworm is after the ruinous powers of the land. His brilliant reasoning skills and numerous contacts makes him among the best investigators in the settlement. The Librarian is capable of using his powers both day and night.

And you are?: Using this ability the Librarian can find out much about the person that he's scrutinizing. Things like, what shoe size he wears, his favorite type of bread, favored book genre; but most importantly, he can find out if the player is a Pro Settler or a monster (Mobs and Independents will show up as monsters, unless they have abilities protecting their identities). This power can only be used twice.

Who dun it?: Whenever a crime has been committed, it's up to the Librarian to investigate the crime scene. Should he choose to investigate someone, the Librarian can figure out if that someone was responsible for the crime (The Librarian can ask the Game Master if a specific player committed a specific crime and get a yes/no answer).

This election has been rigged!: Looking up the vote results, the Librarian can figure out if any monsters participated in the election. Should he choose to use this power he'll be able to find out if any monsters voted for a specific player (mayoral or lynch) and also how many monsters voted in it. This power can only be used once.

Butcher

The Butcher is a wee bit unhinged by his experiences in some horrible and bloody war. During days, he's perfectly normal but during the night he keeps to himself and relives the horrors of his past. The Butcher will kill whoever was the first person to target him in any way during the night, whether it be monster or settler (such as a Priest opting to protect him). The Butcher is unable to NOT kill, but will only kill one person a night. Should two persons interact with him during the night, the first person will die but the second will not. Special note, investigation powers can be used on him without fear of death since the Librarian is merely investigating him and checking his background and is not directly interacting with him. Also, the Butcher is not aware that he's insane and thus believes himself to be a normal Villager.

Villager

As a villager, you stand to loose big, should the monsters ever manage to take control of the town. Be critical! Be suspicious! Most importantly, be on time to vote for a lynch or you won't have any fun at all.

MOBS!

MONSTERS

The monster win condition is to kill all the settlers and rival opposition. Unlike settlers, all monsters know who each other are. All monsters can kill once per night cycle. With the exception of the Skeleton, a monster cannot kill fellow monsters.

Skeleton

Like the Mayor, the Skeleton has several special abilities in his arsenal.

Send him a message: The Skeleton is able to leave the severed head of a horse in the target's bed. This will scare the targeted player, causing him to go into hiding for the next day and night cycle. During this time the player can't perform any action at all. He can't vote for the next lynch and he can't use his powers if he has any. While the player is in hiding he can't be killed. A person who's already been targeted with a horse head attack can't be targeted again.

Call in a favor: The Skeleton can once per game, cancel a lynch. If he uses that ability, during a double lynch, both lynches are canceled.

Behind the curtains: The Skeleton doesn't dirty his hands since he has his goons to carry out his orders. The Skeleton will appear as a Pro-Settler to the Librarian. He's also considered to be protected if he's attacked during the night.

Now it's personal: The Skeleton has decided to take actions into his own hands. By brandishing his crossbow the leader has taken to the streets. He gains the ability to kill once per night but looses all benefits he received from his Behind the curtains power. If the Skeleton is the only horde member left, this power is automatically activated.

Creeper

Each night, the Creeper is able to plant a single bomb on someone or detonate a bomb that's already been planted. He can't plant a bomb and detonate during the same night. The Creeper can at most keep two undetonated bombs in circulation but is free to plant more once he's detonated or lost one of them. Every time he detonates a bomb, a clue is given about his identity. Should the Creeper be killed either through a lynch or a night hit, all bombs in circulation will detonate, killing his targets. If a target of his somehow dies by other means, the Creeper loses that bomb. That bomb is also discovered on the body, which gives the settlers a clue who the Creeper might be. Bombs can be intercepted by a protector, giving a clue to the identity of the Creeper as well. Also if a Priest chooses to protect someone with an undetonated bomb already planted, it will be discovered.

Zombie

You are the horde cannon fodder. Each night you get to maul some unlucky settler. Don't forget to have fun.

INDEPENDENTS

While these individuals are not allied with the Horde, they're none the less dangerous people. Their ultimate goal is to be the last people standing or cause as much chaos as possible.

Spider

If it moves, you kill it. If it's standing still, you shake it so it moves and then you kill it. You love the smell, taste and texture of a blood. Your epiphany is the sound of a screaming victim. Your life dream is to wrap up all the townies in your web and suck their brains out through their nose. In short, you're not right in the head. Each night you must kill someone of your choice to satisfy your blood lust. Leave none left standing.

The Mysterious Stranger.

A mysterious person walks around the town giving people a unique and quite disturbing choice.

I have an offer to make: Each evening, the Mysterious Stranger will send a box to someones home. That box contains a button and instructions. Should the player who receives such a box press the button then someone, who is not him or the Mysterious Stranger, will die. The box will pick a totally random person. It can be a Pro-Settler or Monster alike. The box could even kill someone who's protected so even the leadership is vulnerable. This choice is put solely in the hands of the person who receives such a box. Anyone who presses the button will receive a chest of gold bullion, which will translate into two things. Firstly, such a huge influx of wealth will cause the town to realize what the player has done. As a result, the name of the player who presses the button will be announced. Secondly, the new found wealth, will help the player buy top of the line security via foreign mercenaries, which will grant him an extra night life. A person who receives a box will also get a clue about the identity of the Mysterious Stranger but it will never be publicly announced. It is up to the player who receives such a box to disclose these information. The Mysterious Stranger can not send a box to the elected leaders.

I don't care who wins: The Mysterious Stranger works in mysterious ways and his motives are unknown to all but him. If the Horde succeeds in taking out the town or is wiped out by the Pro-Settlers, the Mysterious Stranger is allowed to share his victory with them and thus it is not necessary to kill him. None the less, he should not be considered to be an ally to either side and will be registered as a criminal should he be scrutinized by the Librarian.

Sounds interesting. How often do I need to be online to play, though? I may log on only once a day, and I don't want to hold everything back because I haven't done my action yet.

Half of what I say is meaningless, but I say it so that the other half may reach you.

Once a day the cycle changes. We start off Day one with elections, and then at a certain point, say 6:00 P.M. on the Eastern Seaboard, the day cycle ends and for 24 hours is the Night Cycle. I'm going to verify the time later. But yes, after every 24 hours on a deadline, the cycle changes. From day to night. Get your actions in, eh? I'm going to wait until either Tuesday or Wednesday to start, if we have enough folks.

Anyone else? Eh?

Wait. This should be the third one, III. Made a mistake in the title. Anyone able to fix that? And anyone else from the last round of Mafia Games interested to be playing again?
