Blackcat 205 July 10, 2012 Share July 10, 2012 I am entering a musical contest this month and I am building a costume for my special little foray into music videos. For this project I need quite a bit of face make-up...and by a bit...I mean I need my whole face smothered in it. Unfortunately, I know not the first thing about make-up of any kind. I need something that is...well...better than halloween face paint getup, but I don't exactly have the funds to buy Hollywood movie grade cinema stuff either. I know i'm being a little vague here, but...I'm not sure how to be specific about something that I don't know the first thing about myself. If anyone here has some know-how in that department, please shoot me a PM, and I'll try to explain myself better. hwrogers 168 July 10, 2012 Share July 10, 2012 well, you could really help those who want to help you with just a little more info. you're needing makeup for a music video so i'm assuming you'll be acting as some non-human character, what is this character? as well as a rough geographic area that you're in would narrow down who could show up to actually help in person (i'm in east texas, and larp a lot, so i have some mild experience with makeup, and a vary small selection on hand) and anything more that you are willing to release about this project would be great to know so that you can get help from someone with the right talents. The character is a robot/clockwork puppet, Think...a victorian doll ventriloquist dummy. and I live in central Oklahoma. I only need makeup for my face, the rest of me is a costume that is already in progress, so I don't need anything for various body parts. I'm sorry, I don't really know what sort of other details I need to give, other than maybe...the colors I need are whites, blacks, and light pink shades. hwrogers 168 July 10, 2012 Share July 10, 2012 ok, that helps tremendously, if the black is just for detail lines you should be able to get by with an eye-liner. puppet look i'm guessing you want a dull kind of white/pink, put red where you want it, let me think on how would be cheapest for red, then coat all with baby powder. really your best bet may be to get with a chick friend for a quick make-up job come to think of it, just get a picture of what you're going for (google image search steampunk and you'll likely be flooded with reference pics) and let your friend help. y'know, friendship is magic... i apologize for that. Well see...the problem with that is...none of my girlfriends were ever big on makeup. maybe eye liner here or there but never anything else. Trust me, i've been asking around everywhere. hwrogers 168 July 11, 2012 Share July 11, 2012 perhaps some surplus fake blood applied thinly could make a red/light red, to then be powdered to pink. if you don't have leftover fake blood from a halloween past then surely you have a friend who does, that stuff is everywhere, and never gets used up. also have to note that i doubt the honesty of girls who claim to have never been big on makeup... XP well considering how fail our experimental trial went yesterday I'd say that if they ever were into makeup, it was when they were little and their parents helped them apply it. Anywhoo...thanks for the suggestions. I'll get this figured out soon Original Characters OliveBranch http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/olive-branch-r313 Blackcat http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/blackcat-r290
hwrogers 168 July 13, 2012 Share July 13, 2012 one last thing i'd recommend would be to do the makeup and get a couple seconds on the camera to see how it will look recorded, which WILL be different from in person/mirror.
