Luna pen sketch

Recommended Posts

This is my very first attempt at drawing a pony. Ignore the "Hello Brennan" (I drew it for my friend that introduced me to MLP, Luna is his favorite). Please understand that I am no artist, but I want to become decent at drawing, so bare with my noob drawings please :3.

Her wings remind me too much of a butterfly. Her body, mostly in the back half, needs more filling; I'd recommend raising it higher next time. And her mane/tale could be a bit more buoyant in the air. Nice job on the head though, most everyone who does their first pony image almost always messes that part up.

Thank you very much for the feedback. I could have put more time into this, but my major error was using pen. Once it is drawn, it can't be undrawn =[.

I think I might redo this one with pencil shading, but once again, thank you kind sir.

No problem. If you don't have it, I suggest downloading GIMP software; it's free. You can take this image, place it in there, and start drawing on top of it. Just make sure the drawing your doing is in a different layer so you don't draw directly on top of the image.

Personally, I literally use it for nearly all my work now. Try this. Take your airbrush. Set it to size 4. Set brush to hardness 050. Rate 80, Flow 10. Name it Sketch and save that.

I use that for quick sketches for any image, works wonderfully with my tablet and I bet it will be just fine for a mouse.

Out of curiosity, what tablet do you use? I have been looking to get a tablet recently and it would be good to get one that is good for art creation.

Pretty much any tablet should work. I even hear that the iPad's are going to have tablet use soon, though I haven't the slightest clue how they're gonna manage that one.

I right now use a regular Wacom Bamboo. It's good for what it does, and very cheap. You could probably pick one up for less than $100 easily.

The better models include the Intuos, thay are amazing. But they cost from $200 to upwards of $800.

And of course the prized Cintiq's Literally anyone would kill for one. You literally draw on top of it like you would for a computer monitor if it were a touch screen capable of finite controls specifically catered to art. This though costs somewhere near a grand and upwards.
