Fire_Fly 499 July 22, 2012 Share July 22, 2012 (edited) It's been forever since I've drawn something! Here's a piece of gift art for Chigens, who wanted a drawing of his Serpony OC. I got to try out my new Artist's Loft colored pencils, which have been sitting unopened in a box for nearly two months! I'm not sure how the orange colored pencil was picked up by my scanner. Hopefully it looks closer to orange than red; I tend to think my scanner can't tell the difference... This is my first time drawing something like this, and my first gift art on this forum, so I really hope I didn't do too badly.... Hope you like it! Edited July 22, 2012 by Fire_Fly 2 I've got an idea! No..... No, wait; it's just a concussion....

I actually really like that position of how the spear is being held and the smug look on the face. 1 My signature broke

Thanks so much! I wasn't sure what to do with the spear at first, but this position seemed really natural, and still managed to keep things proportional around it. The smile wasn't easy to angle, but after a few tries, it finally turned out like this. Edited July 22, 2012 by Fire_Fly 1 I've got an idea! No..... No, wait; it's just a concussion.... Hazardus_Havard. 479 July 22, 2012 Share July 22, 2012 There really isn't much to criticize on this art since you Naga-Pony body is essentially done correctly. You just need to refine you work is all. I would like to point out though that the head is a bit tilted off strangely to the side, almost misshapen perhaps? But the only actual problem here at all is the spear. Usually when placing on the back you want it to rest on the shoulder, back or something to help support it; you have it almost appearing as free flowing in the air with no support. And the tip looks too bent. I'd recommend looking up mytho's naga spears for future reference. Or just spears in general. 1 Practice makes perfect; but if nobody's perfect, why practice? http://hazardus-havard.deviantart.com/ Art http://www.fimfiction.net/story/70801/an-alien-walks-amongst-us Story

I know the spear lacks support, and I figured it'd look like that before I finished it, but I wasn't too sure about angling it. I don't typically use this drawing style, and there are still a few places where I metaphorically draw myself into an irreversible corner. I hope to keep learning from my mistakes and eventually do some decent work. Your feedback is greatly appreciated! Edited July 22, 2012 by Fire_Fly I've got an idea! No..... I don't like coloring in general though. A tip to help is to lightly draw with regular pencil and then hardline in areas with the colors you will be using. Afterwards color it like you would a coloring book.Like I said, I personally don't use makers, crayons or coloring pencils much; I tend to just use digital coloring now with all my art I post on DA. That's another route you could do. Draw a sketch of your work and then digitally color it afterwards. Something to think about.
