Lunalicious 223 July 24, 2012 Share July 24, 2012 (edited) I got a Droid 3 a while ago. It had no battery, so I ordered an OEM one from Amazon. (Had the holo sticker and everything). So when i get it and put it in, it works perfectly fine. Powers up but it says the battery is invalid. Even though it was a REAL Motorola OEM battery. I update the phone and when it reboots, it dies right away. I connect it to a Samsung USB to phone cable. When it's connected to a wall adapter, it just shows a huge gray outline of a battery with an exclamation mark inside. When it's connected to my PC, it charges just enough for it to turn on for 30 seconds. Then it repeats and charges for 15 minutes before it turns on and dies again. So how can I fix this? I hear you HAVE to use the OEM charger and battery. I got the battery and just ordered the charger, so hopefully this fixes the problem. But can anypony find a way to make the gray battery and exclamation go away? And make the phone realize it's an OEM battery??? HELP. EDIT. Holding down the power and volume buttons don't work. Hazardus_Havard. 479 July 25, 2012 Share July 25, 2012 If I was in that situation, I would have immediately demanded a refund from the phone place and returned the battery somehow. Should have gotten an iPhone since those have lifetime warranties and you can usually replace them at a Apple store for either free of charge or a small fee. As for fixing it, YouTube has a surprising amount of information for that kind of stuff there. Practice makes perfect; but if nobody's perfect, why practice? http://hazardus-havard.deviantart.com/ Art http://www.fimfiction.net/story/70801/an-alien-walks-amongst-us Story
Kapi 215 July 25, 2012 Share July 25, 2012 It might be a bit late.. but You'll need to make 100 million percent sure that particular battery model belongs in that cell phone. If it is a cheap knock off, or even a Motorola one, but not the one that belongs in the phone, it might not work. First things first, check to make sure it hasn't had any type of water damage. The water may have damaged any circuitry. Check for a little white dot on the phone under where the battery is. If this dot is pink/red, the phone has water damage. If not, then we can rule that out. If that's not the problem, try calling Motorola support, tell them your story and find out what model number the battery should be. If they try selling it to you over the phone, come up with an excuse, like "I don't like giving my Credit Card number out on the phone" or something. Either way, the model number should be in hand. Best bet, like Hazardus_Havard said is to get a refund from the seller. When you buy second hand, you're taking matters into your own hands, and getting the battery from Motorola could cost more than its worth. Good Luck though! It's a real OEM battery since it has a (Original Motorola) holographic sticker. And it's a BF5X. So the contacts fit and everything. I think I might just have to use an OEM charger. I've been using a cheap Samsung usb cable and it probably outputs too weak of power to turn on the phone. I've already ordered a OEM Motorola charger so hopefully it'll work.
