Active Posts Not Counting

Azura

Recommended Posts

I've been experiencing something that's quite annoying, at least to me. My posts are not counting for some reason and I expect three things..

1. My posts have been deleted a few times in the roleplay section and therefore resulting that Active Posts do not continue being counted.

2. I've started posting using my phone lately, I never experienced this problem before I started using it.

3. Active Posts aren't counted in rolelay anymore.

Could somepony tell me that they are on the same boat with me? I feel alone on this one..

I expected that to happen sooner or later, as much as I try to push myself to liking that change I can't seem to do it.

It's not fair that they removed it, this will cause a major impact to the roleplayers such as me. I'll start posting less because of that, thanks a lot.

Just because people spend more time in the roleplay section doesn't mean it's unfair, I demand them to change their mind.

What about the ponies that got a lot of posts before this rule started? It's not fair, there will be a lot of hate coming from all the roleplayers.

Thanks for the link though.. Time to start posting some section else..

Could a moderator lock this thread before I continue complaining about how this is the worst thing that happened?

Roleplays aren't there just to get your post count up. The fact that you state this simply tells us that it was a good move to remove them from increasing post count in RP world, cause it sounds to me like you were spamming in RP world just to get your posts up, which is what we are trying to stop.

The forums aren't a popularity contest just to see who can get the most posts, and increasing your post count does nothing more than give you a meaningless badge. Once you hit 40, there is nothing substantial to earn anymore.

Is it me or do you not get it? The amount of letters you need to type in the roleplay section was 200, while most of the other sections are 100.

This will result in useless spam from the dedicated roleplayers, just to get their post count up.

I know it's just a useless badge, if that's the case why don't they just remove it?

When RP World first got started, posts did not count period. I gave people that as a privilege, they abused it, I removed it. The thread that Crispy links shows that in detail. People were perfectly content to roleplay without it up until I introduced it. Posts only counted in RP World for a very short time, and if I had known this sort of reaction would've developed, I would've never given people post count.

I apologize that you cannot accept this fact, and that it upsets you, but now people won't be as encouraged to spam quick low quality posts for post count. And maybe treat RP World with a little respect. It's completely necessary, and post count won't be removed anytime soon. I've addressed this in full detail here.

I have addressed all of these concerns several times.

First off, character count is addressed here and here. If your opinion differs, that is fine. However, the character limit is one thing that will definitely not be changed any time soon because it has benefited the forums as a whole as roleplayers are slowly learning that one liners aren't what a forum roleplay is supposed to be composed of.

I'm sorry if I sounded rude, because I didn't mean to. I was simply pointing out the reality of the situation. I hope you can understand our reasoning, because we assure you, even if it doesn't feel very nice... it was for the good of RP World, and the forums as a whole. :)

It does in fact upset me but removing the post count in the roleplay section means a drop of posts due to this.

And you were saying how people spam low quality posts? It's 200 letters and therefore double the amount of post count on random threads elsewhere.

Could you please bring it back but change the letters needed to 500?

I cannot increase the character limit to make up for the fact that there is no post count. This would be an extremely unpopular decision, and would anger people far more than just simply not counting posts. If people can barely make it to 200 sometimes, imagine how much trouble they'd have at 500. It'd probably end up killing the entire section, or make it an even worse spampit in people's attempts to reach that and failure. Whilst I could easily reach 500 characters and beyond in a post, I'm pretty sure most of the RPers in Roleplay World would be very displeased and not able to. I think there is a good balance as it is now.

Thank you for your suggestions though. :)

Honestly, I don't think Roleplay World has dropped that significantly in activity. I still have a lot to check everyday, and people continue to post rabidly. It wouldn't hurt though if it did a little. It is one of the most active parts of the forums. Activity is probably the least of our worries. RP World is VERY active still. Quality is front and foremost at the moment.

How about you make a section specifically for post count that requires 750 letters?

I would love it, I'll be able to practice on writing more as well!

Whilst that would be tempting, I doubt many people would be able to think of that many words. XD I don't think it would be used that often. However, you are more than free to create a roleplay with rules towards length. I have already created one, and it is running quite successfully. I would personally join it and help you practice.

If it's tempting, why not make it happen?

I bet 35% of the roleplayers would post in that section.

It would be amazing if Feld0 agreed. :D

Well, I'd just rather the entire quality of RP World as a whole increase to the point where such roleplays could be more welcome rather than making a specific high quality/lengthy section. I'd rather not split it via qualities because it could make people think that the regular RP World is for short chat-style spam posts and only the larger word section is for actual substance.

It would be amazing, yes, but I don't think it's quite feasible.

I guess it won't be happening anytime soon I suppose, thanks anyway Arylett, it's been nice talking to you. :)
