RIch face-hoofed and sighed. "Listen Blue, I don't think we'll be getting through that door. There's something going on in this house, and I doubt it'll be happy in being ignored. You three should see if you can get out or at least send a message to get help. There's something else down here, and I'll doubt we'll be able to leave until it's sorted."

"Very well. Quillusion, Asteria, we should go check the front door. I have a feeling we may be trapped in this house, but we should check anyway. If that doesn't work, we will need to look around for another exit, or a way to communicate with the outside." Lapis said, throughly annoyed with this predicament. Asteria when over to the front door and tried to open it.

The two voices became louder. "Get back here!" The deeper voice said. From the way it sounded, the voices were getting closer.

 

The only sounds made by the younger voice was a faint whisper. The hallway echoed with the sound of two ponies running toward the group. The sounds grew louder, but nothing could be seen yet.

"W-what was t-that?" Star's eyes widely opened in fear after hearing the ghostly voices. "D-did you hear that?" He never doubted the presence of ghosts in the house, but now it was official. He noticed the worry on his partners' voice and now he knew that something really serious was happening, that their lives were in danger. "You know, forget what I just said about the cameras, let's get out of here right now!" as he began to desperately slam his front hooves against the door once again.

Rich breathed deeply. "You think you're scared? Try being a kid on the receiving end of that for the rest of eternity."

 

Rich slowly walked down the stairs, trying to channel his fear into anger. When he reached the bottom, he used magic to light up his horn, calling out, "Are we interrupting something? I hope so."

The green, see through image of a young colt stumbled into view. Like the mare in the surgical mask,he didn't show up on any of the cameras. As he waslked into the light, he seemed to not notice any opf the other ponies. he stopped walking, turned his back on the film crew, and cowered at the darkness.

The other, shrill voice spoke again, "I said... Get some sleep!" it yelled.

"Look, Rich. Those things we found down here are trying to kill us!! This is serious!" Shooting Star enraged. "It would help if you stopped messing with them and worked in the group so we can all get out of this place alive! Now, get back here and try to think straight at least once!!" Star didn't wanted to say those things. But the more he thought about the noises he had heard and the "monster" he had seen, the more he panicked and went out of his mind.

A second figure walked into the light. It was a stallion wearind formal clothes. He had a menacing look of anger on his face as he approached the colt. He had the same, green glow and see through form that the colt did, and he also seemed to not notice the other onlookers.

Rich turned around. "I'm sorry Star, but I'm not going to wait around for the ghosts to maybe let us out. Maybe I'm not thinking clearly, and maybe I'm scaring you. But I am not going to stand around and watch some kid's ghost relive the beating that probably killed him." Rich had to restrain himself from shouting, He had always had a soft spot for children. "You really think we'll be able to get out of here without interacting with these things? Well I promise you, I will not be killed by the incorporeal form of a long dead, CHILD BEATING COWARD!" As he yelled, Spotted Rich spun and galloped towards the spectral stallion, firing a sleep spell that caused nightmares at it.

Shooting Star shivered, as he only stared at Rich's charge against the monster. He knew that his words wouldn't change the spotted unicorn's mind, but Star was just way too scared to join him. He was sure Rich was going to be alright on his own though. Shooting Star kept inspecting the door, trying to find a way to open it and waiting for the rest of the crew on the other side to come back with good news.

Spotted Rich charged strait through the ghost. It was cold. The stallion still appeared not to notice what was happening. The only thing he saw was the child. He huttled over the foal and struck him across the cheek while screaming inaudible slurs in rage. After afew hits, he stopped, and both phantoms dissapeared. It appeared to be over.

The mare with the split mouth once again spoke in Rich's head. "Three."

Expecting a collision, Spotted Rich braced himself. When he passed through the ghost, he stumbled and fell, skidding slightly. Lying on the floor, he turned and watched the brutality unfold.

 

"Three." Rich repeated to himself. "It's over, we can't do anything anymore. We could have stopped it, we could of helped." He picked himself up and stepped towards his companion. "YOU DIDN'T EVEN TRY! You could have called out or something. That kid just got beaten to death and YOU STOOD THERE FIDDLING WITH THE DOOR!. You think they would have shown us that if you couldn't do anything to stop it? You think these things will play nice and let you go without you doing something for them?"

 

He took some deep breaths and climbed the stairs. "The door's probably unlocked now. That's how these sort of things work." he said, coldly.

The figure of the abusive father rematerialized where he had formerly been standing. This time he was different. He was no longer green, or see through. But the condition of his shriveled flesh made it obvious that he wasn't alive. He shouted with even more rage than before. "I said... GET SOME SLEEP!" he charged at shooting star, with no hesitations, or clear motive.

Shooting Star was completely frozen. His fear had reached its peak after all of the commotion. The only thing that came out of the frightened pegasi mouth was a quiet, trembled apologize. "I... I'm sorry..." holding back his tears.

 

Standing still at the door, Star saw the ghost appearing once again, but now it looked like to be aiming at a different target. Star himself. "GO AWAY!!" He shouted, from the top of his lungs. "PLEASE DON'T KILL ME!!"

The ghost continued to charge, showing no signs of hesitation. He seemed to be delusional, and believed he was attacking the child once again. "Stop whining!" he demanded as he swung at Shooting star's left cheek, "You're just like your whore mother, you little worm!"

Star fell to the floor, curling himself into a ball. At this point, he could no longer hold back his tears. Not because of the pain from the hit he had taken, but again, because of his fear. Star didn't knew ghosts could phisically touch ponies, and now his mind filled up with the thoughts that he was going to die right there. He didn't fought back, he just deperately tried to crawl away from the monster. "Please stop!! Leave me alone!!"

The stallion watched him crawl across the floor in fear. "Just like your whore mother..." he repeated. He hutteled over the helpless form. "Tell me you're sorry and that youll do better... TELL ME!" the beast demanded. Some of his fur fell off of him as he screamed, revealing his gruesome decayed skin.

Rich snapped out of his daze. "ENOUGH!" he shouted, coming down the stairs to defend Star. "You fail. You can not control children that way. You can't bully them or hurt them. YOU ARE WRONG!" Without really thinking, he pulled the knife out of his saddle bag and ran in through the ghost's chest with all his strength.

Star managed to crawl away when Rich rushed towards the beast. He crawled until he hit the wall in the corner of the room, where nearly no light could reach. He stood up on his trembling legs, panting and rubbing his mouth in search of blood. What the hell was that thing talking about? 'Just like your whore mother'? 'Tell me you're sorry'? Star thought for himself while recovering in the corner, breathing heavily and watching Rich's fight against the fiend from a distance.
