How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: Slowly and painfully, through scepticism and self-targeted sarcasm.

This place wants a hundred characters of description? I am truly flattered. I'm a 26 y/o guy with (apparently) too much free time on my hands, a fairly typical nerd, a hopeless pessimist and misanthropist, and a caustic critic. I'm from the very centre of nowhere - Siberia, Russia, to be precise (no, I haven't yet seen any bears roaming the streets). For living I'm participating in paid experiments regarding the effect of prolonged exposure to chemically contaminated environments on health. That's where I also do sciencey chemistry-related stuff, I even have a degree. I seem to have a special talent for getting under people's skins and advocating what is commonly regarded as unpopular opinions. And I certainly like to have discussions on such subjects. That's sort of the main reason why I am here. I'm curious about what the brony community is like on the inside and what kind of personalities it attracts. If the end result happens to mellow my attitude, that's going to be a miracle, I guess. But well, with no hopes you have nowhere to go. So, please keep calm and carry on, my... hm... research will probably not be too intrusive. Although some of my friends say that just the way I look at them is giving them toothaches. No, I'm not paying your dentistry bills if it actually happens.
