CinemaBrony 1,276 September 19, 2012 Share September 19, 2012 (edited) Now I've recently joined the SoCal Bronies group on meetup.com, and the first and closest meetup that I've confirmed to be attending isn't until the 5th of October. However, I really really want to meet some real bronies within my area before the end of this month. So my question is this: Is it alright if my first meetup is hosted by myself? I've been thinking of arranging a small meeting within my hometown next Friday, specifically with the few bronies who lives in San Clemente (where I live). What I have in mind right now isn't anything truly special, just basically getting together and doing lunch or getting a cup of coffee (or maybe seeing a movie if there's something good playing). I know it doesn't sound that great in comparison to the other meetups that get arranged, but I just really need a decent way of finally getting together with fellow bronies and actually getting to know them in real life. So what do you think? Would arranging my first meetup by myself be a smart move or not? CapnKrunk 307 September 19, 2012 Share September 19, 2012 (edited) well.If you really want to host one,but think it's too stressing. Then you can try to find other people to help you host a meetup. P.S I've never been to a meetup before. So it's your choice to take my advice. Bohtty 1,775 September 19, 2012 Share September 19, 2012 Yah sure, why not xD? Not all meet ups have to be mini conventions. Most meet ups that I've heard of are usually just to see a movie/eat something/watch the show/play games/etc. 2 Legit signature made by Shift. CinemaBrony 1,276 September 27, 2012 Author Share September 27, 2012 Thanks guys, but I think I've decided to not just host my first meetup right off the bat when I haven't even attended one yet. Besides, I've got a couple homework assignments to catch up on this weekend, and the upcoming Disneyland meetup is only less than 9 days away from right now. Also I don't really have much experience in hosting these kinds of gatherings/events. Maybe the week after, I could propose a lunch/movie meetup (and it doesn't have to be just in San Clemente). I'm guess I'm just getting desperate since I really need somebody to go to Equestria LA with. https://www.youtube.com/user/CinemaBronyVA/videos
Tenshinohana 264 September 27, 2012 Share September 27, 2012 I don't think it's a big deal to host a meetup yourself Usually, if you have a list, have a vision and a plan, and you're okay with other people, it's pretty easy to handle. I onve arranged a meetup just going to the movies - I said that "it happens at this time and this place, please inform me if you'd like to come" and then take it up on a list. Then, you have to stand in front of the movie theatre in something that people will recognize you in - perhaps a pony t-shirt, or you've told them to look out for somepony in an orange hoodie and bright red pants and hipster glasses ( ). Then you check from the list anypony who comes... And ta-da! You have a meetup! After that, you don't really have to plan, since pretty often people know what they can do after the movie, or whatever you want to do. You can think of it as a large group of friends just seeing each other, and I personally think that arranging a meetup is no big deal and a very simple thing to do. You just need a little Twilight, and a little Pinkie Pie, and then you're fine!
