My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Twilight Sparkle

How did you find MLP Forums?: Google Image search. Yes, really.


How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: It is a typical story, I'm sure. When season one started up, a couple of my friends started watching it, and invariably they would sheepishly admit it to me. I'd always brush it off as "not my thing", but never held their taste in media against them. A few months later, it happened. Summer. I suddenly had a wealth of time on my hands, and no good way to spend it. Curious as to why so many of my friends watched the show, I gave it a shot. I think at the time I talked myself into it by using it as a "test", one which I don't regret failing! I immediately sympathized with Twilight being the anti-social bookworm and that kept me watching through episode 3. As most of you can probably attest, most who get that far tend to see how far the rabbit hole goes. I finished watching season 1 right as the first episode of season 2 aired. When my friend linked me to r/mlp, it was the final nail in the coffin.

 

For those who read through that, have a cookie! You earned it ^_^

Hello, I am Comrade. If you know anything about myers-briggs am somewhere between an ENTP and an INTP. If you aren't, then personality-wise I'd say I sympathize most with Twilight Sparkle.

 

My biggest hobby, outside of most things pony related, is gaming. More specifically, competitive gaming. I've been a fan of Starcraft since Brood War released, I've played competitive Super Smash Bros Brawl for a couple years, and that segued into a love of fighting games in general. And in the past few years I've been playing Moba's like League of Legends and Dota 2. If you ever want to talk about anything involving competitive gaming, feel free to send me a message :D

 

And with that, I close my crappy little introduction~

I love fighting gaming too!

Supersmash bros brawl and super smash bro's melee I still play.

I love fighting in general for some odd reason even though I dont promot war...

I found the ultimate ninja storm video games having killer graphics and fighting combos.

I also like soulcaliber (sp?) I'm personaly having troubles with the controls still -_- xD

As I can see you mentioned Starcraft Brood war. That's very good game. I play it with my brothers, but only ocasionally, so I am not that good at it, but I can beat AI easily :P

Welcome to the board :D You better make like Twilight and read the entire set of books about acceptance, because you've found the friendliest pony board out there. I hope you enjoy your stay, have fun and make plenty of friends. Season three is just around the corner, so sticking around, letting this place grow on you the way it has all of us is highly recommended as we trek on into more and more pony.

I haven't been able to play smash in a while. Can't make it out to tournaments, and the online blows. I really enjoyed Soul Caliber 2, though I haven't done much with 3d fighers since. My favorites currently are Blazblu (though I only have Continuum Shift, not Extend) and Ulimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. UMvC3 is so much fun to watch and play, it's the thing fighting games needed to become a more mainstream. I've never had much experience with street fighter or similar traditional 2d fighters as I moved straight from Brawl to Air Dashers (like Blazblue and Guilty Gear, both Arc System Works games).

 

As for controls, about a year ago I switched to Fight Stick, so I know it can be hard to learn new control layouts.

Brood War is so much fun, but so hard too. For those who don't know, in competitive RTS's one of the measures of your ability to play the game is APM (Actions Per Minute). Each action you give, be it selecting a unit, building a structure, giving a command, or training a unit; each of these counts as one action. The average player just starting the game usually floats around 5 to 30 apm throughout a game. Pro players (the ones who play in leauges profssionally, not just those who are good) usually set the bar at about 350 apm, though the best can hit upwards of 450. After months of training and drilling, I could never get above 65 :(
