SnowFall 5 November 20, 2012 Share November 20, 2012 Hi! ... Um I have a question about cosplaying and Brony conventions... When you go to such an event, some ponies like to dress up and cosplay. I have seen some ponies dress as the mane six and other very popular ponies: Time Turner, Derpy, etc. My question is this: is it accepted to cosplay as an entirely fan-made pony? One you created, staying within the style of the Hasbro design? Or is that frowned apoun? Thanks, -SnowFall
Commander Urdnot 2,680 November 20, 2012 Share November 20, 2012 I don't see why it would be frowned upon. Even if it was, who cares? Do what makes you happy, as long as it isn't hurting anybody who cares what others think? Everyone has a right to be happy.
SnowFall 5 November 20, 2012 Author Share November 20, 2012 Oh... Okay thank you for the advice. See, my boyfriend and I wish to cosplay when we go to a convention, but couldn't decide on any pony pair specifically. We were deciding between: Rarity and a Diamond Dog, Cadence and Shining Armour, Or Celestia and Discord. But the more we thought about it, being a fan made pony couple would make us happier. Our worry is that by not being a pony from the show, it would cause confusion as to who we were cosplaying. ... Did I explain too much? I'm sorry. But again, thanks for the advice. Lando 80 November 20, 2012 Share November 20, 2012 (edited) I can't imagine anyone having a problem with it... well, unless your wearing one of those weird realistic horse masks as they tend to creep me right out Edited November 20, 2012 by Lando 1 Check me out! No, seriously, check me out.
FALCON PUNCH 244 November 20, 2012 Share November 20, 2012 Only cosplay I did was when I went to Eurogamer as a halo 3 marine but I think it is perfectly fine to cosplay as anything you want (as long as it is not breaking the law!) so what if you are frowned upon by other people it is your choice! Creamy Arty 6,252 November 20, 2012 Share November 20, 2012 Expect people to ask who you're supposed to be, but it's not like anybody is going to get mad or anything. Do whatever you want to do and people will think it's awesome, even if they don't know what you're trying to do. Harmonic Revelations 8,835 November 20, 2012 Share November 20, 2012 Do what makes you happy. I never have and probably never will attend a convention but I don't see why it would be frowned upon. Just do what makes you happy. If you feel like dressing up as OC, do it, if not, don't. It's completely up to you.
Reversalx 129 November 20, 2012 Share November 20, 2012 Lol yea no ones going to care, probably due to them not knowing who you guys are dressing up as XD Just have fun with it, thats what its about "Colorful Rainbows catch my eye, as i see you fly across the sky. You're like a drug that calms the mind." Recycled sig from one of my test anims. Pay no heed.
SnowFall 5 November 20, 2012 Author Share November 20, 2012 Awesome! So... Would having a drawn representation of the original pony be something to take with me if people ask? And thank you Everypony for the advice and help. <
Winterbass 763 November 21, 2012 Share November 21, 2012 It won't really matter, it might cause a slight confusion when people try to guess who you are but that's really it. You should do what you'd enjoy most, it's your cosplay after all. And there's nothing worse than dressing as someone you don't want to.
