Descant's Oc

Looks good so far! Don't worry about touching it up on the computer, I often make vector traces of drawings anyway, (Like I did with my avatar) assuming of course I get your permission, too.

Is it safe to assume that you're going to add the cutie mark?  :)

Ok thats good. And yeah sure of a rose i'm guessing I was just not sure if you wanted one since it wasn't in the description or the ref.

Huh. It was definitely on the page. Well, I designed the character before I named her (I was going to call her Green Thumb, but then I remembered that thumbs don't exist in Equestria), and originally her cutie mark was a four-leaf clover, the leaves of which were shaped like hearts. Maybe you're right, and that doesn't quite fit anymore. If you think a rose would fit better, or two roses, or whatever, I'd appreciate it if you could find a way to retain the heart motif.

Wow! That really is fantastic. Thank you! A brohoof can only express so much appreciation, so I'll give you some bonus points as well. (they don't actually really mean anything, by the way.  ^_^

I'll post my work on it here when I'm done vector tracing it. I can't start on it right away, I have some math homework to do. And if you like how my vector trace turns out, I'd like to extend the offer to other drawing you may want preserved digitally.

I've updated her character page (Green link in my sig). Her new picture is now there, and I've updated the description of her cutie mark, as well as how I came up with the idea for her. I mean, if you want to look. I added ORIGINS in other, because it's always interesting to see where people get their inspirations, right?

I'd like to add that I seem to have developed a bit of a knack for designing OC's, their personalities, and abilities. I'd be more than happy to offer advisory services should anyone want some.

How freakin' cute!  I love some good ol' traditional work.  You really don't see too much of it, especially when it comes to pony fanart!  What a great character!

Thank you and yeah they are generally digitally drawn. I do both but I'm better at drawing on paper (But its easier to colour on the computer because there is so many colours and shades to chose from).. But the character isn't mine it's Descant's, I just drew it for him.

Update: I have finished what I'm calling my first draft of my Vector Trace. Basically, I have completed the outline, and the picture needs touching up before I can start with the coloring and so forth.

Posted Image

I need to touch up a few rough spots on the outline (The curly tidbits in her mane and tail were particularly horrendous offenders, kinda hard to trace with vectors, and I need to fix the width of the lines making up her jaw),  and figure out how to rework the rose, as well as trace the cutie mark (Where I will be running into the same problem) before I can begin coloring it in.

The main reason I'm posting this here is so I can get some feedback from the original artist. I like to check in with the artist occasionally to check and see if there are any mistakes I've made that should be obvious, but aren't. It's a delicate process, adjusting the lines while zoomed in 650%, and sometimes I miss things, or the lines I'm tracing seem to run together.

Very nice, better than I could do especially with a touchpad.... Um, I drew over your's to show the mistakes (they where my mistakes in the original) and you can chose to use the shading it's probably bad anyways.. I tried drawing the cutie mark to make it clearer, you will have to redo it...

The shading's always been the part I've had the hardest time with, to be honest. Even when I'm the one drawing the picture. Do you think the way I did the rose in her hair is passable, or should I redesign that, too? The edits you've made to my picture shouldn't be hard to make. I love Inkscape.

Yeah shading is hard.. But the flowers cute. Never used Inkscape all I have is paint and gimp.. I used paint for that, that's why my corrections are so sketchy..

Inkscape is easy to go back and edit afterward, but periodically crashes, and oftentimes there's just the tiniest bit of noise between layers in the end result. Usually I do end up having to touch up the picture in paint afterwards...

Here's the latest version. I haven't decided whether it's the final one or not. I'm not sure whether I want to leave the outlines black or not... But here you go! Completely vectorized and filled in and Cutie Marked!

I'm not that good. I can't really draw with my vectors (Or with a pencil, with that matter), but I can trace and make edits almost perfectly as long as I have something to reference. Now, when it comes to colors or design... Maybe that's a different matter. Point is, though, there's absolutely no way I'd be able to create something like this by myself.

I won't challenge a compliment when someone actually gives me one  :)

Well, I did offer to vector trace something of yours in return for your drawing that for me, if you remember. Let me know if you have something in mind for that. I might not be able to start tonight, but the offer still stands regardless.
