We're five episodes into Season 3, and based off JUST these first five episodes (not judging the seasons as a whole, that's obviously not possible), which season do you believe got off to a better start?

Too Many Pinkie Pies beats Lesson Zero

Luna Eclipsed annihilates One Bad Apple

And Magic Duel beats Sisterhooves Social

 

Verdict: 3-2 Season 2

Well if I had to pick I would go with, season 2. The Return of Harmony was a better opening episode than the Crystal Empire, not to mention the villain was better. As for the rest, these episode from season 2 were just a little better.

 

Magic Duel I think is the best so fare from season 3.

Premier is tied IMO.

Ep 3: too many pinkies

Ep 4: again tied. I love Luna and CMC

Ep 5: Magic Duel

 

So by those numbers, season three has a better start IMO

It's kind of a mix. I enjoyed both season premieres, but I liked Discord better. One Bad Apple has a totally elite song in it, so I'm happy with that. I don't really rate seasons, though.

Everything about season 2 has been better so far. Everything seemed more fresh and original and unique, whereas season 3 is simply filled with brony references and filler action scenes, which I personally despise. I mean, really, what lesson did anyone learn about friendship in "Magic Duel"? There was a little bit of that "use the six" thing, in there, but that's hardly a lesson, at all. It just mentioned it about 2 times, and that's it. Wasn't even the main focus of the episode.

 

What I really don't like so far about season 3 is the lack of new things for us bronies to like and spas over. Like, Lesson Zero gave us crazy Twilight, which is used everywhere, all the time. Luna Eclipsed gave us... LUNA. And "the fun has been doubled!". I don't remember what Sisterhood Social was even about, to be honest... I forget the titles to the episodes, so I can't recall... And then the season 2 premiere... gave us Discord. Which is crazy amazing. Compare King Sombrero to Discord. Discord obviously wins in terms of originality and fanboyability. I haven't seen anything in season 3 that really makes me want to latch onto like I did with Discord, so I just can't seem to enjoy it as much, at all, and really, so far I'm really let down by season 3. Maybe the song in One Bad Apple... But still. It's just not the same.

The first five S2 episodes. The first four from that season alone are some of my favourite episodes of the series. Discord, crazy Twilight and Luna > anything we've seen so far in S3 IMO.
