Hi, I'm new! My username, Asquerade, is a pun on 'Ask' and 'Masquerade'. I came up with it myself, and I thought it was pretty funny. I'm not sure if it'd make a good pony name, but I still think that it's better than my usual username, which I'm not using for two reasons. One, I don't want the world to know that I, an awesome and smart guy, secretly like ponies, and Two, it sounded kinda daft anyway.

 

I included my favourite pony in the topic title, because I guessed that lots of other people have probably already said "Hi, I'm new!" in their topic titles when they sign up. Unless they say something cooler.

 

I think I'm smart, but I never really know. I grew up in a very poor area of the UK, and I'm still living in a poor neighbourhood(Heh heh, pony pun.) and I've never met anyone else that ever really came close to my intellect. Most of the people where I live are heartless jerks, and after I failed to befriend them, I kept them away from me by acting like Trixie, except I bragged about my intellect instead of magic, becuase I don't have any magic. :'( I also acted like Twilight Sparkle, the way she was in the first few episodes, where she considered books more important than friendship.  I was like this even before I saw the show, and before I saw the episodes with Trixie and Twilight. My classmates all hated me, and I strongly disliked them.

 

Twilight Sparkle is my favourite pony, becuase she is smart, kind, and she lives in a library! Awesome!

Blank Flank is a title based on the number of posts you have made. I believe you need five posts to advance to the next title (muffin). There's a list in the FAQ that shows the requirements for all the titles, if you're curious.

This may be an odd question, but...

 

In Series one, episode four(I think), Applebuck Season, when Applejack gets a head injury from hitting her head on a branch, as well as being really sleep deprived(Not a good combination), she has trouble hearing what Twilight Sparkle says. At one point, Applejack mentions a Zoo. They are ponies, so what would be in this zoo? Humans? Or the animals that even Flutershy can't keep?

 

Also, why is Angel Bunny so mean to Fluttershy all the time?

1. I don't know, they have mythical creatures, so I guess they'd be in the zoo?

Angel Bunny genuinely cares about Fluttershy, as can be seen by his behavior in some episodes. For whatever reason though, he's just kind of a jerk to everyone. Maybe he's jealous of the attention that Fluttershy gives to all the other animals she takes care of.

There are deeper reasons for me liking Twilight Sparkle, but I'd rather not go into them. I promise you, it has nothing to do with her 'plot', but I guess it involves her 'backstory'. The main reason I like Twilight Sparkle is that even after spending so long without friends, she finally managed to make friends, and now she and the rest of the Mane 6 are the Elements of Harmony.

 

Quick question: If one of the Mane 6 died, would the Elements of Harmony become unuseable? Or would that particular element be reborn into another pony, like with the Avatar from Avatar the Last Airbender?

Thanks for the compliment!  Also, two things to remember:

1: Prepare for a lot of ponies asking you many different questions based on your name, Asquerade.

2: I have studied ancient Equestria lore, and it states that if somepony who wields the Elements of Harmony dies, another friend, who demonstrates that element very well, will take their place as a member of the "mane six" and representation of that element.  If all of the original mane six die or there are insufficient friends, however, that is an entirely different story with a much worse fate, likely Discord breaking free from his prison, wreaking eternal chaos, anarchy, and all it brings.

Right now off the top of my head, I can think of several incorrect ways by name could be taken, including 'Asker Ade', like gatorade, 'AskAround', 'Asquerade' pronounced like Promenade, and the obvious one involving rears.

 

I have a few more questions, could you answer them?

 

If a Unicorn's horn was damaged, would he or she be unable to use magic until it grows back? Or will it not grow back at all?

 

Is there a spell that temporily changes the user's appearance or species?

 

Why are gryphons so rare? Is it because of a low fertility rate, only being to give birth every five or ten years, or do they live in dangerous areas, or get themselves killed pulling dangerous stunts?

 

Are ponies given names based on what they look like, or what their parents hope they are going to be? Or are they given their names when they exhibit certain personality traits?

 

Why do Rarity, Fluttershy and Applejack have only one name, while most other ponies have two?

I shall try to answer all five questions:

1: Well, it depends on the severity of the damage.  In Shining Armor's case in which crystals were attached, he would be able to use it once the spell wears off.  If there's a mere chip in the horn, it's disabled until the damage is restored, which takes a LONG time!  While my horn was under the effects of the Poison Joke in the episode "Bridle Gossip," which emphasizes something I don't want to mention (I'm not speaking about curses), once I took that bath, my horn was restored.  If somepony's horn was broken off, trot on over to your pack mule and give it a long smooch (kiss your ass good-bye).

2: I'm sure that there is such spell.  Evidence of this spell was found in Discord, who could change shape for as long as he wants.

3: I have two theories: either they're an endangered species because of all the war and stunts and such or they're "rare" because very few have been reported.

4: I guess that it's a little of both.  Take Pinkie Pie and myself, for example.  Pinkie Pie is pink, which is the reason why she was born with the name "Pinkamena Diane Pie."  My parents saw the sparkle in my eyes, which gave them an epiphany of my future accomplishments, so they named me Twilight Sparkle.

5: Their parents gave them their respective names.  Rarity's name was noted because of how beautifully she would design dresses.  Fluttershy's was a pun on "butterfly," which related to her natural connection with woodland creatures, and "shy," which denoted her shyness.  Applejack was given the apple-related name because she was a member of the Apple family.  Back to the 5^th question.  Their names were unique among the few ponies who were given two-word names (Scootaloo and Applebloom fall in the same criteria).

Could Poison Joke be captured, farmed, and used as a weapon of war, or used for something nonviolent?

 

If you were going somewhere nice, but very far away for a few weeks, but you could only save two of your friends with you, who would you take? You have to take two, and you must go.

 

Inversely, if you and two of your friends had to spend a few weeks somewhere bad, possibly as part of a test, who would you take with you?

 

How large is the Apple family? And could they take over the world if they wanted to?

 

Is it true that because Princess Luna can see ponies when they are sleeping, Princess Celestia can see them while they are awake?

 

Did Princess Celestia have to lock Luna in the moon? Couldn't she have just made a certain day or week of the year where the sun doesn't rise, making it a day or week in celebration of the night?

 

How does Princess Celestia feel about that nickname some people use behind her back? You know the one. The one that rhymes with her name? The one they usually use when talking about the two of you... together?

 

How harshly/lightly is stealing treated in Equestria?

 

If a unicorn and a Pegasus had kids, would the children be one of those winged unicorns/horned pegasi, like Princess Celestia?

Let me try to answer a few of those questions:

1: Poison Joke can be used in biological warfare, but I don't know anypony who would be insane enough to perform such an unholy deed.

2: If you mean "save" as in rescue, then I'd save Spike and Rainbow Dash.  If you mean take with me, then I'd kindly reject the offer.

3: I'd take Spike with me so that I can send letters to, and receive letters from, Princess Celestia, and Rainbow Dash for her loyalty can be quite useful in a bad situation.

4: The Apple family is quite large, but I highly doubt that it'll take over the world.

5: Princess Celestia oversees everypony during the day (24 hours a day prior to Nightmare Moon's defeat).

6: Yes, Princess Celestia did have to banish Nightmare Moon into the moon.

7: Don't you DARE mention it again!  (Cross your heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in your eye)

8: Oh, thievery is severely punished in Equestria.

9: Little is known about the genetics of alicorns.

2. Okay, but what if saying no meant the destruction of Canterlot, due to your refusal to go making Celestia lose a bet with one of her royal guards, letting him rise to the throne for a day... But due to Celestia's dethronement, she becomes unable to raise or lower the sun, officially ending one day and starting another, allowing that royal guard, who may or may not be discord in disguise, to rule Equestria forever?

 

3. Good answer. I'd want them, too. For the reasons you mentioned, I mean.

 

4. Ok. Good, the thought of Applejack's sister replacing Celestia was quite a scary thought!

 

5. Cool, but how does Celestia do it? Is there a spell for it? If so, are you talented enough to learn it? And what would you use it for?

 

6. Ok. Was she fully awake during her banishment, capable of seeing everything that happened, constantly feeling the coldness of space, seeing the ponies frolick in the sun and sleep during the night?

 

7. I make no such promises about that, but I'll try and avoid the topic, or at least, I'll avoid the parts about you and her 'studying anatomy' together.

 

What happened to those 'Baked Bads' Applejack made?

 

Is 'Trap it in a rock' really Princess Celestia's answer for everything? Is that how she got rid of the baked bads?

10: Thievery is most likely punished by banishment, being thrown in a dungeon, or banishment and being thrown in a dungeon where you were banished to.  If somepony repeatedly steals, then the severity gets to the "banishment to the moon" point.

11: My least favorite pony in all of Ponyville?  Hmmmm, I guess my least favorite character in ALL of Ponyville is Diamond Tiara.

How did Princess Celestia use the elements of Harmony on Princess Luna/Nightmare moon? She is only one pony. She might be a powerful alicorn, but she's still just one pony. Whenever you use the Elements, you need all six of you to be there.

 

How did Discord become so powerful?

 

Is there meat for sale, for carnivourous pets, in Equestria? And is it healthy for a pony to eat it?

 

If, for one reason or another, possibly involving Discord, Celestia turned evil and tried to destroy ponyville... What would you do?

 

Fluttershy wants to be a tree. Is that like the pony version of a human wishing they were an animal?

1: There aren't many video games or card games in Equestria, but I do enjoy an occasional game of "Magic: the Gathering," especially when I use cards from the "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: the Gathering" set.  Also, gambling of any type is considered a crime as bad as thievery.

2: I guess that, in my current status quo, I'd be the element of kindness if I weren't the element of Magic.

3: All nicknames given to Princess Celestia to emphasize her being, and I quote, "a royal pain in everypony's behind," are punishable by the same punishments as thievery and gambling.

4: It's those blasted parasprites who call bronies names that would be considered offensive and, according to Hasbro, "My Little Pony" is a mainly girly franchise.  Both of those reasons, paired up with Discord, are the reasons why not many stallions visit Ponyville.

5: I'm afraid that if I got a job at Sweet Apple Acres, I could run my friend Applejack out of a job.  Same for her big brother, Big McIntosh.

6: Never doubt the awesome power of Princess Celestia.  She can use magic in ways nopony could imagine.

7: Perhaps you and Discord haven't met.  The epic Discord is the spirit of chaos and disharmony.

8: Yuck, meat?  Are you crazy!?  Us ponies are herbivorous and would scoff at the thought of cannibalism!

9: I would call upon the Elements of Harmony yet again to stop, and even save, my teacher.

10: There's nothing wrong with Fluttershy wanting to be a tree.

11: Rainbow Dash thought that I was thinking that Spike is cooler than her.  She decided to hang out with her "true friends," flying off as she said it.  After a short conversation, I managed to get Rainbow Dash to accept me as a true friend again.

I never said that I thought there was anything wrong with Fluttershy wanting to be a tree! I actually think it's really sweet. Considering how she likes the ground more than the air, and her wings lock up when she gets scared, I think she might be a better as a tree than as a pegasus! ...And I mean that in the nicest possible way. What kind of tree does she want to be? And could you use magic to temporarily turn her into a tree?

 

If you had to get a new pet from Fluttershy, possibly to keep your current one company while you were away, what would you want?

1: Truth or Dare isn't considered gambling.

2: Yes, I am on one of the "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: the Gathering" cards.  Same goes for my friends, Princess Celestia, the Elements of Harmony, just way too many things than one can simply post.

3: Fluttershy just wants to get closer to nature, and I think there's a spell for that, but it's a little risky to perform.

4: I think I'd get another owl to keep Owlowiscious busy.

5: I said don't mention it again!  No one breaks a Pinkie promise!

6: Rainbow Dash's flight and speed advantages ensure that she will win..and have a slight chance of killing Applejack, in the process.  I wouldn't even think about it if I were you.

7: "The Great and Powerful Trixie" just wants to prove that she is the best unicorn in all of Equestria so everypony would pay attention to her.

8: Pinkie Pie had plenty of spare time, as well as the materials and know-how, to build her Party Cannon.

9: Derpy Hooves is just so...derpy, trying to help out, but hinders instead of helping.  I can use my magic to cure her unusual eyesight, making it so that she can help much, MUCH more than she hinders.  If she met Discord, he'll use his magic to discord her, being unsure if it worked because there's basically no change in color.  Also, when she gets home after being discorded, she'll see the picture that her daughter, or son (I forgot), drew for her, and tear it apart, spreading the discordance to her young.

10: I don't have a very good taste in music, so I'm not sure.

11: Diamond Tiara is just too bratty for my taste, and this is a kids show about love and tolerance.

But I didn't make a Pinkie Promise. I clearly stated that I would make no such promises regarding the matter, I only said that I would try and avoid involving you in the subject. And even if I did make a Pinkie Promise, it would not have been broken, because you are not Princess Celestia, you are her student, and I was asking you what you think of Celestia's nickname. I wasn't asking her if she got the nickname from interacting with you, I just wanted to know what you think of her nickname.

1: I'd get Scootaloo for a pet, just for the the lolz.

5: Rainbow Ditch left the mane six until I used my memory spell on her, therefore, an Appliejack vs. Rainbow Ditch battle couldn't happen.

8: I had no need to.  I could easily pacify the Ursa Major with my magic alone.
