A different world to the Equestria we all know and love, but just as real as that one. This was a world torn apart by nuclear disaster, with only the towns left as clean and pure as the day they were founded. This Equestria existed alongside the original one up til the day that unicorns went prospecting in the caves beneath the surface. In one world, the unicorns discovered jewels and built off of that... in this world, the unicorns discovered an element known as uranium. When they developed this, they found that it produced an awesome fount of power which could run everything from it; trains, lights, heating; even entertainment facilities. The world split off in a different direction, became more technologically advanced.

 

Had they known of that "other" Equestria, the ponies of AU Equestria would have pitied them for their lack of technology and the fact that they'd turned towards beauty rather than practicallity and as a result had missed out on nuclear power and everything that went with it. The ponies were earth ponies, unicorns and pegasi, just like in the original Equestria, but with one difference; the pegasi didn't have feathered wings. Instead, they had the wings of bats, and the only feathered wings to be seen there were on birds and the few alicorns that lived there. The ponies of AU Equestria lived a happy and contented life with their nuclear run toys and amusements til the day of the disaster.

 

It happened at the town which held the power plants. This town was named Pripyat, and was ruled efficiently by a clan of pegasi of who the eldest foal in each family was named in some way after the town which was their life blood. Pripyat Pony was one of these, a white pegasus with a dark red mane and tail with platinum blonde streaks. Her eldest cousins were named similarly; there was Pripyat Force, her colt cousin and Pripyat Wind, her filly cousin. There was no confusion however as this was how it had always been. The disaster happened at noon when the third reactor began to crumble, an explosion imminent.

 

Pripyat Pony flew as fast as she could to notify the alicorns, of which there were two. They organised the unicorns into forming protective domes over each town, including the doomed one of Pripyat in order to contain the explosion. The alicorns themselves went to the Cloudsdale fortress to protect it. Pegasi were sent out to round up all ponies who were outside of the towns. When the explosion happened, most ponies were safely within the domes; only a few were killed, those who had been outside and were too stubborn or too stupid to come inside. Pripyat Pony and her clan worked tirelessly with the alicorns to build a protective cover over the power plant, but there was no way to fix what had been destroyed. The beautiful fields and forests outside of the towns were all destroyed, and the plant itself could not be neutralised.

 

The ponies were desperate. True, with what had been saved inside the domes and the magic of unicorns, they could survive but what of the landscape outside? Pripyat Pony and her clan went out to search for a solution. Pripyat Pony's cutie mark had appeared while she was working on the cover; the sign of radiation. One day, while flying thru the air a short while from Cloudsdale, the batwinged pegasus dropped thru a rip in the space time continum, a worm hole that led to the original Equestria. Confused and puzzled, she flew thru pure, clean air and saw beautifully unspoiled landscapes below. Where was she? And could she ever get back?

Pripyat Pony flew thru the air, bewildered, til she stopped on a cloud to rest. These clouds were strange to her; so fluffy and white. The ones back in her old home were grey and brittle; you always had to test them first to ensure that they'd hold your weight and even if they did, rests had to be kept short before the cloud eventually gave way. This one was soft and held up perfectly. This could not be her world. Pripy shook her head in confusion. She looked behind her, but could not see anything out of the ordinary. Perhaps a unicorn or alicorn could find the tear... but were there even those living in this world. She gave a start. There was a pegasus flying towards her, but how strange! This pegasus had feathered wings like an alicorn, not the normal batwings. She wondered if the stranger would stop.

Draco O'mally the local courier pony of Poyville was flying through the sky on his regular deliveries. His customers always seem to want the exotic items that was rare to find. Of course he'll find it through his web of connections in each kingdom. The crystakl ponies though he had to make a new connection to. Now he was done and was now lazily flying through the sky.

 

Draco stopped and noticed the pretty batwinged pegasus "Hello miss how are you this lovely day?" he asked with a eyebrow raised as he hovered infront of the pegasus. She looked alittle lost. He landed next to her ruffling his wings alittle as they were starting to cramp. "Are you okay miss?" Draco asked as he looked at her cutie mark and thought to himself '

"I... I'm not sure," Pripy replied, faultingly. "I just fell thru a window, or something, and found myself here. Where am I?" The batwinged pegasus looked curiously at the red pegasus' wings.

 

"Where I come from," she said, "Pegasi don't have feathered wings, only alicorns have them. And the clouds are different here, but it feels like Equestria. Could you help me?"

"A gentlestallion always helps a mare in distress. So what do you need help with miss oh how rude of me what is your name miss?" Draco asked as he forgot to introduce himself. He was sometimes forgetful about introductions but then again he knows his customers. Draco will help her because of his mother's teaching to help others when needed.

Even tho it was rude, Pripy could not stop herself staring at the stranger's wings. She wondered how it felt to fly thru the air on the wings of birds, rather than on the batwings that she herself had. She collected herself with a start as she realised that the red pegasus was asking her what her name was.

 

"My name is Pripyat Pony," she replied. "I come from Pripyat Town in Equestria. There was a disaster there, and everywhere save the towns is destroyed. But... this isn't the Equestria I know, yet somehow, it still is Equestria. I just don't understand what happened."

"I may have a theory on it but umm you'll probably laugh at me. I'm Draco O'mally of O'mally courier sevices," Draco said as he bowed slightly while kissing her hoof gentley. "Well the theory is maybe you went through a wormhole caused by something in the air or something," Draco said as he prepared to be laughed at.

Pripy however did not laugh. She instead looked thoughtful. "You know," she said, "You could well be right. I sensed a disturbance around me as I flew thru the sky just now and suddenly I find myself here. Where I come from, you can't really sit on clouds, not really. I mean, you can perch on the end of them, but you can't just let go and relax cuz they are so brittle that they could fall apart in a moment and then you'd have to flap your wings hard to save yourself. So when I sat down on this cloud and it was firm and fluffy, I knew that I must have gone thru a door or something in the sky."

"Well I would have to say your quite beautiful," Draco said with a smile. "You must have alot of stallions begging to become your special somepony," Draco says with an honest tone as he looked at her flank. He saw her cutie mark. "So they don't have magic in your realm?"

"I don't have a special somepony, sadly," Pripy replied. "And we do have magic; it's how we were able to protect the towns when the power plant exploded. Unicorns mostly used to gather uranium; magic was only a security consideration and not done for fun or randomly, just as protection."

"Well that suck so how about I help you then," Draco said "I can offer you an extra room at my home," Draco offered as he stood up on the cloud. "Your wings aren't broken are they?" Draco asked as he looked at her "I'll show you where you'll live along with me so don't be afraid to ask,"

Pripy flexed her wings and flapped them, just in case they'd caught on anything during her flight thru the wormhole. No, they were fine.

 

"That's very kind of you," she replied. "I don't have anyplace to stay, after all; I won't stay long, if you don't want me to. Just til I get my bearings."

"I don't mind it's alittle lonely in my home," Draco said then he said "Plus I'll also give you a job too I need a secretaryto see which one of my customers I've delivered and the ones I have not," Draco said as he looked at Pripy with a smile on his muzzle. "well what's your answer,"

Pripy frowned; as a general engineer, she'd never done any secretarial work and it wasn't really where her talents lay. However, she knew that she'd have to get some sort of job to support herself in this world, so she nodded reluctantly at the offer. In any case, the clean air and pure landscapes were something she knew she could get used to.

"Plus my heater and air conditioning stopped working afew days ago," Draco said "And if I'm guessing right from your cutie markl and smoking flank," Draco said jokingly "Your handy with tools right?" Draco asked Pripy as he hovered in the air next to her.

The batwinged pegasus nodded in relief. "Very good," she said. "I and my clan worked hard to build a protective cover over the power plant; that's how I got my cutie mark. It's the symbol of radiation. Sometimes I feel a bit disappointed; I wish I could have gotten one that reflected better my talent for engineering."

Draco smiled at her "Well shall we get going milady?" Draco said jokingly as he eyed all of her. "Hmm you know Pripy you are quite beautifull I'm surprised no pony has even asked you out," Draco said with a compliment as he looked at her. He watched to see if she would blush

Pripy went a little red, which annoyed her. "I haven't really had much thought for romance," she confessed. "Not with everything else that happened." The pegasus stood up on the cloud and unfurled her wings. "Let's go," she said. "Better go first and let me follow you."

"Of course," Draco said as he started to fly towarsds his home slowly. He looked back to see if she was following him "Careful of the updrafts they can cause havok with gliding," Draco yelled out as he flew through acouple updrafts. He was able to do it because of his larger wingspan.

Pripy was unused to updrafts; they rarely happened in her own world, but she braved them, gliding on her batwings as she followed the feather winged pegasus. Her own wings were fairly large so after she got used to the different air, she was able to manage fairly well and keep up.

"We're almost to my home we need to dive down. I'll catch you if you get tired okay," Draco said as he dove quickly towards his home. The house was large enough for 15 ponies to live in. He smiled as he finally had some company. Plus  maybe he'll see about showing her a good time.

Pripy caught her breath and dived down. She landed fairly gracefully on all four hooves in front of a large house. She still couldn't quite get used to the freshness of the air and the greenness of the grass and plant life all around her. She hoped that she could maybe spend quite a lot of time here before she had to go back home, if she ever could find her way there.

"Welcome to my home I'll go into town to get you afew things if you'd like?" Draco asked as he walked toward the door. He looked tired from his long day of flying and delivering packages. "Welcome to my home Pripy or our home if you would prefer," Draco said with a warm smile.

"Well, now you mention it," Pripy said. "I would like something to eat. I haven't had anything for all day and I'm starving. I was going to eat something once I got back home after searching for a solution. Back in my world, my home is in the Cloudsdale Fortress. I don't suppose that there's anything like that here, a barricaded castle in the sky that is there to defend from hostile elements as well as attempt to control the weather? The weather is haywire back home cuz of all the radiation and it's as much as we can do to control it."

"Nope no radiation," Draco said as he putll out an apple from his courier bag and handed it to her. "Here you are Pripy," Draco said as he opened the door. "Here it is clear skies and beautifull moonlit nights which lovers walk. Heh Sorry I'm a helpless romantic sometimes," he said with an embarassed tone.

Pripy took the apple in her hoof and took a bite. "I never really thought about romance before," she confessed. "But I'd like to find out about it, if I can. Perhaps I should relax sometimes and see where the night takes me. I've never done enough of that, especially after the disaster."
