The show i too happy for my taste. I know i know its a cartoon but cant we have a little more dark themes in it? *season 2 spoiler * 

 

yes i know the finale was kinda dark but  it was played off in the end. Plus all this talk about cupcakes. muffins are better for one and i almost feel silly watching it. Help me?

One of things I like about MLP:FiM is how it's willing to go into maturer (better word here than 'dark') subjects and themes than the last couple of generations. HOWEVER, I like it also, possibly more, for the fact that whilst it can be 'darker and edgier' at times, it sticks to its bright, positive roots, which I think a lot of shows don't have nowadays. If you want a dark, brooding show, go watch Batman: TAS, or for a dark comedic show, Adventure Time and Regular Show, but MLP is something most different.

You're too used to adult stuff. You need to watch more cartoons :3 How about Animaniacs? That's a darned good cartoon. Or Invader Zim, if you're looking for dark.

I think it's dark enough for what it is, at times at least. The show certainly takes more liberties than any other girls show I've seen, that's for sure. It could certainly be sweeter and happier to a fault like many other girls shows are, but it's not, not at all, and that's good enough for me. *shrugs*

The happiness is what makes the show appealing. Its a great change from all the other shows on tv. Its nice to watch a new episode and know it isn't going to go too far with its boundaries.

I am too into those cartoons haha. I did notice that it can stick to being bright while going dark too. The scene where pinkie tells how she got her Cutie Mark was kinda dark but it stuck to being bright and positive(annoying but they pulled it off) The episode too many pinkies reminded me of a dark tale about demons in some sort of religion dont know what though.

you have no idea haha i have been on 4chan too long animaniacs and invader zim is what i grew up on.
