Pulcinella 1,016 January 7, 2013 Share January 7, 2013 Hello! Now, I wouldn't consider myself the best artist on the forums (that title probably goes to Mr. Brony, he's amazing) but I do draw, and I'm mediocre at it, and, well, here's some tips for bronies who want to draw, but don't find themselves that good. ~Digital Art~ If you're using a base to draw, use a picture of a character that is most like the character you are going to draw. This way, the character's personality can be clearly represented through the pose. Normally, people are better at drawing with a pencil. To start, draw the traditional art version of the picture, then upload it to your drawing program and trace over the picture. Trackpads are never good news. If you don't have an iPad or graphics tablet, you're better off with traditional art. If possible, get a stylus for your iPad or graphics tablet. This'll make it seem like you're doing traditional art, with the added benefit of looking better than with your finger. Also, it sticks less and doesn't smear up your screen as much. ~Traditional Art~ If you're using colored pencils, ink the drawing first, so when you're erasing the excess pencil lines, you won't accidentally erase your coloring. Water colors usually don't turn out well; they run if they're too wet, or are very chunky if they're not wet enough. However, there is a perfect balance, but it's hard to find. If your art requires paint, your best bet would be acrylics. Never use markers to draw or color. They turn out terribly and usually ruin the paper underneath it, so your notebook is full of big color blotches every other page. Always sketch first. Say you make a mistake. If you have solid lines and you try to erase, they'll smear and your finished product wouldn't look very professional. ~Overall~ Keep your signature simple and legible. After all, you want to get clear credit for your art, don't you? Correct any mistakes as soon as you make them, especially with traditional art. You don't want to ink a five-legged pony, do you? (Well, maybe you do. I don't know what you're drawing.) And last but defiantly not least, get lots of practice. Well, Cannon OUT.

Pulcinella 1,016 January 8, 2013 Author Share January 8, 2013 Hello! Interesting. I have a Galaxy 2 Tablet 10.1 Is it suitable for drawing aswell? And about Traditional art... What is this "Inking" you're talking about? If it's a tablet, it usually does pretty well, so, yeah. By inking, I simply mean going over pencil lines with pen, then erasing the pencil underneath. You need to make sure your art is perfect before you ink it, so you don't make a mistake permanent, as I mentioned before.
