Having my own Little Dashie. Help?

Let's start a year back when the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic TV show became extremely popular amongst a group of people on the internet. I was curious of course so I started watching it, and um, it's popular to have your own favourite pony, mine was Rainbow Dash, how I adored her, you could almost say I wanted my own little Dashie in real life, and this just happened in the first few weeks of discovering the show, even before the fanfiction came out.

I've always wondered how it was like to have your very own pony as a sister or friend, you could say I'm a Fluttershy (Half - Fluttershy?), I'm a socially awkward person, but not as much as Fluttershy though, I've always been bad at making friends, whenever there's a new student in my school, instead of making her/him feel welcome, I shy away from her/him. Never really had a true friend I could talk to, the closest only being work buddies in this case, school mates, where we just study and play chess and stuff like that.

Leading back to the problem, I've heard of this My Little Dashie thing for some time now, but I never really had the time to watch the reading of it, since everyone said the reading was more effective than actually reading the fanfic, so I did, I was really bored, bored to death, and I just clicked it.

I cried, I bawled* like I've never before, not only because the story was so moving and sad, but I relate to the story...

I even cried after the story, like for an hour I suppose...

I knew exactly how the person felt wanting his own Dashie.

Throughout the night, I just kept on thinking about it, and how I longed for this to happen to me, I've always day dream about having a Rainbow Dash as a sister (Keep in mind that I'm a male).

I stayed up to 4am in the morning, just thinking, and reading sequels to the fanfic, but none of them were as moving as the first, since it was thing that relate to me.

I dreamt about her all night, and kept waking up, due to itches, and on those moments of waking up (1 minute wake-ups) I just think about her AGAIN, instead of thinking about sleeping, I just think of her again for like a minute and fell back to sleep. I have the strange sudden urge to walk and finding card-box boxes now...then I snap back to reality, and reminded myself RBD was fake.

I don't know if any of you have the same feelings, but this was I felt.

This is just so wrong, longing for a fake fictional character than someone in real life.

Oops. You must be a humungous oddball. :V

All jokes aside...

Not only are you not the first person to bawl and cry and obsess with a real "Dashie", you are part of the majority who falls in love with ponies from the show. Hope you don't consider this rude, but, this is like the hundredth time I saw someone make a post/topic about crying when reading MLD and wanting an actual RD in their own world.

I'll be straightfoward and firm. Not gonna happen.

Again. Majority. You're one of the 75% of the Rainbow Dash fans who fell in love with her. Who bawled and called MLD the best fanfic ever. I have no control over your choices, but if you do not return to reality, rather serious things can happen.

I don't think the fanfic was the best thing that ever happened to my life, I'm saying that, I magically somehow relate to the man and I'm not in love with a cartoon character, I just fancy having her as a mate, some one that I can really talk to and just be sisters and brothers, I never even CONSIDERED marrying a pony let alone think.

I'm pretty sure a certain amount of people from the 75% is actually sexually in love with her.

I don't think it's wrong at all! The characters were designed to be very relatable - and your reaction is pretty much like everyone else's (at least to a certain degree). I'm sure beyond a shadow of a doubt that if you asked anyone in the fandom, they would have at LEAST one pony that they'd really like to talk to in real life.

Me? I like Fluttershy, and I'd be thrilled if I could give her a real hug and feel her mane. She's just so ADORABLE!
So don't worry about it. Obviously I wouldn't advise proclaiming it to the whole world, but I'm sure that every Brony has similar feelings. (Perhaps not to the same intensity necessarily, but they would understand where you're coming from.)

Thanks I guess so, but it's uncanny how the man and I relate to each other, not directly but we share a problem which feeds the problem of having a Dashie. The main points I guess were that we didn't have anyone one in this world to walk to, comfortably, and having a lack of social life I guess...

It was as if we were brothers from another mother, I knew EXACTLY, SPOT ON, what his feeling were, words didn't even need to explain that feeling he was having.

I didn't know other Bronies shared the similar problem, I guess mines a little deeper? since I kinda have a wider perspective of the man and the fact that we share the similar problems and that I had the feeling in my mind except not in words and went it was written down in words, I guess that made an impact.

Thanks, helped me a ton, seeing as other people share a same problem makes it better, also I edited my reply, I'll add you if I'll need someone to chat to in the future. :)

Oh I figured that my childhood had something in common, I was raised as the youngest, having an older brother, It was a hard time growing up since my elder brother constantly bullies me when I was young, bruises, scars, they still remain. However he stopped and I had a ton literally a ton of pets when I was young, I had 5 dogs, around 30 hamsters, a turtle, 30 mice, 2 cats, 2 rabbits

I guess my childhood grew around living creatures, and I still remember having my dog Foxy, where I would share my problems to, when I was sad, I would just sit with her and talk to her.

But, they couldn't stay forever, so I have nothing but a computer to share my problems to, and I apologize for any inconvenience I created, never really knew others would have the similar problem.

I guess I missed the old days, just like the man in the story, missing his parents, I even fear the day my parents will leave me. I grew even more attached to a dog rather than a human.

 I guess I'm a little like Fluttershy.

aww, the feels, ;_:  i never had any pets for long, because my sisters would either drive them out, or indirectly kill them XP

How do you usually share your problems? When you have any of course?

Me? I just talk to my dog but sadly I had to replace him with internet. I cuddle her too.

Heh, it's quite alright, there's been many bronies here before who've said they'd love to have lil Dashie as a friend of their own, I'd love to have a friend like Pinkie Pie. The characters were made to be loved by us, and well, they are obviously working. :3

If its something sad, I rant about it to my parents, if im mad, i rant to my friends... I rant and vent quite a bit :) but if that doesn't work or if its not appropriate to rant about, i usually just talk about online, swallow it, or talk to my parents.

I never really talk to my parents about my problems, I guess I'm afraid what they will think of me, and as for friends, I don't want to seem like a burden, having to talk to them all the time, about MY problems, It just seems really selfish to me.

yeah, i understand, i wouldn't talk to my friends except they like ranting more than me XD. its probably really entertaining for bystanders  watching us rant... :P but remember, us bronies are always here for you! :D

:( Aww...

It's not an inconvenience at all! As I said before, you're hardly alone in this. Perhaps that's the magic of this fandom - it brings so many seemingly unrelated people together in ways that nobody would ever expect.

Sharing your problems isn't a selfish act at all. There are hundreds of people here who are more than willing to listen.

People need to vent once and a while. It lifts an invisible weight off of their shoulders, and lets people sort out their thoughts a bit differently than their usual manner. (In fact, a lot of people vent to me.)

Needless to say, you shouldn't worry about it. ;)
