A little inspiration for my fellow bronies.

Yeah, this fandom is pretty great. It's probably in my top 3. But one thing's for sure, the show is awesome and the community is amazingly kind and talented.

Oh man. Your parents don't sound like the rational sort, but I would highly recommend doing some research of your own. Fight fire with fire.

If you need a copy of the Brony Documentary, I will GLADLY send you one so you don't have to buy it (I bought it and have several downloads left). It's 90 minutes long and shows bronies in an extremely positive light, which might help... There's also the Brony Study, which is an in-depth, professional psychological look at the brony phenomenon; tell them to take a professional's interpretation of it, rather than editorial pieces of trash that I'm sure their supposed "articles" are.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with ignorant parents. You seem like a kind, spirited person.

I've already found a large collection of articles, but the problem is twofold here. First, they'll disregard all the articles I find as unreliable sources regardless of where they come from (they'd turn on their own news station if they didn't agree with it). Secondly, they would see me finding these articles as being obsessed over the topic, which would only hurt my cause.

As for showing them the documentary, the scene where someone explains bronies are the result of 9/11 and people not able to deal with reality would hit them harder than anything there. They'd purposely look for bad things then blow them out of proportion. I appreciate the offer, though.

I'd be surprised if your parents would be able to block everything from you. That would be incredibly difficult to block everything from your phone, too. Either way, I'm sure you could still interact with the community somehow.

It wouldn't be too hard. They require complete submission, after all, so they'd just demand my phone and block the sites off with a code. They're really tech-savvy, needless to say.

@@blackopp1 Dang. I wish I could be of more help. Good luck, maybe try to find a friend who would let you watch it at their house? Or maybe go to the library and use a public computer for forums? @_@

The only problem is that all my friends are haters (except for one, but she's the one I mentioned in the post, and look what happened to her). I'm working on one of them, as I've proven him wrong before on something he hated until he played it, and now he loves it, so I have a little hope. What you've said may very well be my only chance if things go like I predicted, but I'll work something out if it does.

I am really looking forward to the day where watching a show like this is seen for what it really is, not a big deal. Don't get me wrong I love this show it is one of the best I have ever seen and the messages are positive, inspiring and have started an overdue debate about gender rolls in society and it has had a positive influence on many peoples lives including my own. But the fact that so many people have to justify their decision to watch this show to their parents or anyone else for that matter is really sad. If I told someone that I have been a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan for over 20 years than most of them would either be indifferent or say "cool I love the turtles" but if I told someone that I was a brony many of them would some rather baseless assumptions about me being some basement dwelling loser, gay or a pedophile. It is probably going to be a about 10 years or so before this happens, but hey you got to start somewhere and we are all helping to start it.
